Cal still thinks we could make the tournament with out the SEC tournament because there’s plenty of games left.
Better chance he loses more than the all time record losses of 19 with Sutton, while shitting away our all time wins banner to KU.

lol if you actually think Cal is getting fired.
Therein lies the problem. Zero pressure on him to do a damn thing differently because he’s got a cush gig and knows he has all the leverage.

It’s worse than those golden parachutes coaches have in their contract because at least you’re rid of the bastard when you cut that fat parting check.

He’s not going to get fired. He’s not going to change. He’s going to continue to be defiant to the fans and double/triple/quadruple down and we’re going to eat that shit sandwich for the foreseeable future.

A lifetime contract should be the catalyst for change we all want to see with Cal.

April 2019. 22 likes.

Not taking a lap or anything just pointing out that we've been saying for years that Cal's not changing nor does he have to.

Him going to UCLA might have been a good thing, though not sure the coaching market was all that attractive at the time.

I know this has been mentioned but...

I’m still sad laughing at watching Askew run up the court with Dicky V screaming “this is the most important possession of the game for the Cats!”

...and we promptly post Isaiah Jackson 15 feet from the basket - a guy who has made zero successful post moves on the season - and he takes two dribbles and tosses it to a Bama player in an attempt to get it to one of two players on the team who can make a shot.

And he will not play for us next year, maybe neither of them will.

That sums up our team, coach and program.

If you think Cal is actually going to spread the floor, start shooting 3's and get with the times (after years of him teasing it in the preseason)...

your a idiot.

All we can do is hope the amount of talent we have on the floor supercedes his will to slow it down, grind it out, level the playing field, atkot.

Basically win *despite* Cal is what I'm saying. Nice to say about your $9M guy with new lifetime contract!!

I mean- you can’t even bench Askew because he’s ONE of TWO guards on this team.

In 2021.

I suppose you can play one real guard with two wings but one of the wings is shooting 18% on the season from three and we’re 3 days from February.

I’ve said it 10x before but I think I’m done. I don’t see any reason to watch Saturday.

1. I don’t see us winning.
2. We’re going to play ugly.
3. Even if we we were to pull the upset, so what? We’re not getting in without the SEC Tournament and I doubt any of those get played.

And said player Jackson is EASILY the most likable and arguably best player on this team.

I wanted him to have zero to do with our biggest play of the game.

Welp, usually it’s a bad thing that we have an entirely new team every year.

Next year, it might be a bit of a plus.

What a bunch of pussies.

And let’s put in the worst lineups possible just so we make sure we don’t luck into a win.

Uh oh. It’s still too close. Let’s have the SEC ref crew assert themselves.

Touch this bullshit.

Where in the hell do they dig up the three positive callers on the KSR postgame show? Does Barnhart cut checks to these bozos or something? If so, I'll call and talk about how spoiled UK fans are and that the BBN should be proud of our young heroes for sacrificing their dreams to play during these unprecedented, dangerous times or whatever.

Just send me a voucher for some wings and a free Manhattan.

If I had to compare Cal seasons to elementary school:

2009-2015ish: We are eating pizza and corn everyday. Some dude might bring his own lunch and bring a Fudge Round to trade for 1987 Cory Snyder card. We play prison dodge ball or kick ball daily in gym class, and we are bringing in that tv strapped down to a cart all day long watching Slim Goodbody, Electric Company and Tombs and Talismans.

Now: We have to go through Salisbury steak with rotted mashed potatoes, and hard rolls. Gym class is a chore because we have to do all of those Presidential Challenge stuff and that rainbow parachute thing, and watching NOVA.

Get me back to sitting around a table full of my friends devouring that god damn rectangular pizza, you fat asshole.

"We don't just PLAY college basketball, we are college basketball!"

Seems like a lifetime ago. At the time, the top kids needed a year of 'college basketball' to get ready for the next step. Now they don't and the advantage of having a prestigious program coupled with a high-end recruiter was lost. Other big-name programs are struggling to a lesser degree and the path to a great college team has changed as quickly as the NBA has.

Our coach has to humble himself and change his ways. It's not going to happen. That sucks.

I am proud of these kids tonight.

They didn’t make every play, and the ball didn’t bounce their way most of the time. However, they didn’t fold to the aggressiveness Alabama played with, they didn’t fold to the inconsistent refs, and they didn’t fold to their coach doing irrational shit.

Not to bring up who is the next coach, but it was a damn good change for Oats to shoot only 4 three’s the second half and realize his team was off tonight. They began penetrating and getting our guys to back off because they were in foul trouble.

But that is because what we were doing was working well. We played good enough to win, and truth be told it was over at 52-50 coming out of a TV timeout we designed a play for Allen in the corner and he missed.

We then fouled and sent them to the line, turned it over, or they scored easily the remainder of the game.

It sucks, and I don’t particularly like this group as a unit, but I’ll be damned if I won’t cheer for them in hopes they figure something out. Not because of some false hope of a tournament, but simply because it’s just not 100% their fault.

Had we played all 15 games this year like this, we’d at least be 9-6 with some hope!

UK currently 252nd in the country in PPG at 68.1, which will obviously drop as it doesn't include tonight's game.

That does put them ahead of 9 other Power 6 teams (Including Big East for this exercise)

Halftime adjustment? What's that

Do you actually think that was by Oats’ choice?

“Here’s our strategy boys... let’s not make a single FG for the first 10:00 of the 2nd half and only 5 the entire half, they’ll never see it coming!”

They didn’t win because of some brilliant halftime adjustment, they won because we have the shittiest offense in UK history.

We were up 2 with the ball with under 4:00 to play and actually ran a great play that got our best shooter an open 3 to go up 5. Allen bricked it.

From there on, our stingy D disappeared and our shitty offense got shittier.

Foul on Jackson 40’ from the basket. 2 FTs. Tie game.

Boston turnover. Bama layup. 56-54

Mintz misses a 3. Bama layup. 58-54

Jackson turnover. Saar takes a charge... nope it’s a block at this end of the floor. 2 FTs. 60-54

Allen misses a jumper. Mintz gets the rebound. His shot is blocked. Foul on Brooks. 2 FTs. 62-54

Allen 3-pt basket! 62-57

Foul on Saar. 2 FTs. 64-57

Askew fouled. 2 FTs. He scored! 64-59

Toppin foul. 2 FTs. 66-59

Allen turnover. Mintz foul. 2 FTs. 68-59

Askew blocked. Bama layup. 70-59.
