That three at the end of the half is the perfect example of what we should be running and why Cal is failing. The driver was a threat to shoot so our defender overplayed and got beat. He kicked out to the shooter and that guy was 5 feet off the 3-pt line, but it doesn't matter because he can shoot too. Spacing, shooting. And the was set and ready, nothing was forced, and it's a great shot. When you space the floor like that you're just harder to defend.
Cal would've coached the driver to be aggressive and get to the basket, likely resulting in a contested 5-6 footer with a lower pct. chance of going in than the long three Bama got. And Cal would've scolded the shooter for pulling up 5-6 feet off the line. Especially since he probably would've missed because he was thinking about how if he misses he's gonna get bellowed at and benched.
