CLOWN ARRESTED FOR SLEEPING IN STRANGER'S BEDROOM

MARLBORO, Vermont -- A teenager was spooked on Sunday, but it was not part of any Halloween fun.

At 3:30 a.m., Vermont State Police responded to a 911 call from the teen, who reported an unknown man in his home.

Did he eat their porridge too?

Good Lord.

Tom Brady is going to his 10th Super Bowl. If that doesn’t make you smack your gob, nothing will. The next-closest quarterback in terms of career Super Bowl appearances is John Elway, with five. Brady has played in 14 conference championship games—double the total that his boyhood idol, Joe Montana, played in—and has 33 playoff wins. Montana is second on that list, with 16. Brady is ahead of everyone else in football history by 17 playoff wins. Another Super Bowl win would give Brady more championships than Montana and Elway combined. Brady’s accomplishments are so vast that it is difficult to even compare him to other players. He’s the Grand Canyon—a snapshot doesn’t do it justice.

The comparisons with his peers (well, if someone in his 21st season can really have “peers”) are even more astounding. Brady has been to four Super Bowls since Peyton Manning retired. He has won more conference championships (10) than Drew Brees has won playoff games (nine). The other top quarterbacks in Brady’s era are the 2004 first-rounders: Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, and Ben Roethlisberger. Even if we combine that trio’s career achievements, Brady still has seven more playoff wins and two more Super Bowl victories. The only other modern quarterback who could plausibly be compared to Brady is Aaron Rodgers, and Brady’s Bucs just went into Lambeau Field and beat the Packers 31-26. Brady is one win away from winning more Super Bowls in his 40s than Rodgers has won in his career.

Tom Brady will play in his 10th Super Bowl in 19 seasons as a full-time starter.

Brady has been more likely to play in a Super Bowl (52.6 percent) than Michael Jordan was to hit a shot (49.7 percent).

The only way to truly appreciate Brady is to compare him to teams instead of players. Brady is one win away from having more Super Bowl rings than any individual franchise. He has more Super Bowl appearances than the Bears, Titans, Jets, Chargers, Saints, Browns, Cardinals, Jaguars, Lions, and Ravens combined. In the Super Bowl era, Brady the team ranks fourth in playoff wins (nestled between the Cowboys and 49ers) and second in Super Bowl appearances (behind only the Patriots, which … you know). Including the playoffs, Brady has won 263 career NFL games. As a franchise, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have won 287. The Bucs have been playing since 1976, one year before Brady was born.

I’m old enough to remember having a friend in college who was a diehard Patriots fan and thinking how random that was (I mean not really he was from Massachusetts but still). Got their team newsletter every month, found a place in OH that would put on their games, etc. Like that was when they were basically a northern form of the Bengals, went to a couple of Super Bowls and lost but basically mediocre at best.

College aged kids today have no idea.

The Patriots almost moved to St. Louis when I was in college and were to become the St. Louis Stallions. 2 of my best friends in college were diehard Patriot fans. We laughed about that a lot. Losers.

- Buffalo Cheez-Its are the best version going right now, followed by Cheddar Jack. They apparently also make a Queso Fundido variety that has yet to make its way to our Kroger(s). I'm intrigued.

- Not much got ol' KL's blood pumping more back in the mid-80's than getting a Rated Rookie or two in a pack of Donruss. Treated those things like gold.

- Doesn't matter if they're Democrat or Republican....all state/federal leaders have the same thing in common. They all think we're stupid.

- My wife posted a Facebook tribute to her late grandmother on what would have been her birthday yesterday, and it included a picture of her late grandmother. A Facebook friend(an older lady herself) of ours commented, saying that I look like MY mother, who was not pictured on the post, which wasn't even my post to begin with. 🥴

- Speaking of old folks, it bears repeating...those Progressive commercials about turning into your parents...well, those things are perfection.

- Ceiling fan on while sleeping....it's a yes for all of us, right? The one thing we can all agree on?

Still have NO IDEA how he got up there.
I watched him climb that thing from just about the foot of that sign. He basically just climbed up the sign like a rock wall climber and then somebody threw him the flag.

I was convinced the crowd was going to have to catch that idiot and prevent him from killing himself.

-As a formatting stickler I'm undecided on that KL space after the dash. I can see where it would be beneficial so your auto text does ad words with a "-" at the beginning.

-G's first BB game last weekend. Dude just got totally thrown off when his coaches paired up to defend a specific kid. Not helping the situation was the other kid was his buddy from school. So he just got dialed in played absolute lockdown D... the entire time. Regardless which team had the ball. Wouldn't leave his dude for anything. So we worked when to play D, when to dominate offense, and he came back with a Josh Carrier style practice last night.

-CC was telling me you can't just buy a standard cheap pack of baseball cards anymore. Like 20 Topps with a shitty stick of gum and 3 Harold Baines cards inside. Believe he said the low end was like 20-something dollars. Brady? That kinda sucks.

-Fan on, low.

-Was in college when Brady upset the Rams. Pretty wild he's still playing, let alone winning, because that seems like a lifetime ago. Still hate the dude though. F- Him.

-5 days to put this month behind us. We're way beyond the cute part of Winter. Clicking months off now, especially with the Rona, is a blessing. Just get me to Spring ASAP.

Notes from the mainland and recovering from a Costa Rica vacation:

2 days in Fortuna, at the base of Arenal Volcano
2 days in Monteverde
2 days in Quepas

Driving: holy smokes, we basically drove one big loop around the entire country, and averaged 30 miles/hour, tops. 2-lane roads, single car-wide bridges, 30+-degree climbs and descents, the occasional dirt road. Just perfect, and a huge part of maintaining their culture.

Cost: flights were $125 apiece on Delta. Car was $115/week. Air Bnbs were $30-60/night. Beers were $2. Food in tourist areas were Applebees/Chilis/TGI Fridays prices max. And this is supposedly the least expensive country in Central America.

Can't really overstate how deep and lush and green their rainforests are. The first two stops were our favorite, with days spent hiking in the mountains and exploring the flora and fauna. Lots of waterfalls (with Fortuna Waterfall easily being the best, and they allow you to jump in and swim at the base).

Monteverde Cloud Forest = you walk out to a steep point/overlook, and legit see the clouds rolling right over top of you. Like the world's biggest rave party smoke machine.

Tabacon Hot Springs =

(unreal)

Quepas = typical beach town, and a great way to end our trip.

Traveling is so gd cheap right now, it's crazy. And I've got to think it's going to stay this way for quite a while, since you now need a negative COVID test administered within 72 hours to return to the US. That's a logistical challenge. But if you can pull it off, Guatemala, Belize, Columbia, Panama, Mexico = all about a $2-300 flight.

Next up (maybe):

Any of the Real Men of GYERO wanna go this summer?

-Hard for me to decide which was the most memorable sports moment during my time at UK. Football probation announcement? Bluegrass Miracle? UAB upset? Marquette Elite 8? Heady times!

-Tonight's beatdown just what the doctor prescribed for the January blues.

-Fond memory of Bama basketball is when Pitino wore the plaid sportcoat in honor of Wimp Sanderson. Also when he wore cowboy boots one year against Arkansa/Nolan Richardson. Whatever you want to say about him, the guy knew how to make this shit fun.

Miss that stuff, and wish college sports still had some room for levity. With the money involved it takes itself way too seriously now IMO.

-Speaking of naps, are we coming up on any retirements of gyero posters? Some of you assholes are in your late 50's, right? Suppose it's still a ways away but will add a nice dynamic having a few regulars check in from Naples (FTW) before dying of course and your wives enjoying the fruits of your careers for a couple more decades.

-LIBERAL CONTENT WARNING: Been watching Pretend it's a City which I recommend btw. Fran Lebowitz would make a great gyero poster. Funny lady. What a city for a humorist to spend their life in. Gotta get back again soon sans kids.

-Fried chicken. Green beans. Mashed potatoes with white pepper gravy. This meal (or variations of - there's room) seems to be fading from our national consciousness which is troubling. Should be a staple on American dinner tables each Sunday IMO.

-As a contrarian bettor, #9 at home vs a team with a losing record and only -8 gives me hope tonight.

-It’s not funny, but it cracks me up anyway, my stepdad ask everyday “it sure is cold outside again when is this going to go away”. I mean at first, back in November, it started to get under my skin as he legit did and still thinks tomorrow will be summer, but the way he asks in such disbelief as if I control the weather just gets me at this point. He says this to me like you tell your kids good morning.

-The lot I purchased didn’t come on sewer. I’m a dumbass, and just assumed as it’s in a neighborhood that it was sewer. Whatever, I paid less than the neighbors for the last lot so that helps.

-MGP merging with LuxCo, which is Lux Row, Old Ezra, and a few others has caused quite the stir. I guess people didn’t know all that stuff was Heavenhill sourced and now will have some MGP qualities. What’s being missed is the possibility of MGP offering Ky Straight Bourbon at their barrel prices!

That’s a home run for ya boi!!!!!

-Any one ever tried the pine room? I’m wanting to go to a place that plays piano for dinner. Always felt a nice piano in the background as soothing, and want to try something good.

Any recs would be great as they have a short menu.

-Had to meet for a trim takeoff out in the boonies yesterday toward Simpsonville. Of course I got stuck as all the gravel has disappeared. That is the most helpless F it all feeling if I’ve ever had one.

Pouring down rain, in the mud, tires spinning

Correct. Generally one Sunday a month here until summer months. Wife makes great fried chicken. Usually, will make enough for leftovers for the week and sends some down to an older woman on the street who has been a good friend and enjoys comfort food.

-second the "pretend its a city" rec. Fran is a sharp cat.

-prolly watch the 1st half at the tennis club...*big time* 40 and over 3.0 doubles tennis match tonight.

-last night was "8th grade night" for basketball...had to do at EJH as all games are away because our gym was built in the 20's. Time flies, gang.

Was really cool to see Christ Oats make progress to be able to stand. I honestly had no idea (still probably dont) how serious his condition was/is. But making the literal baby steps to recovery is awesome.

Tornado ripped through about 10 miles north of us overnight, I've been here for a few random early december twisters but a late January when its supposed to be winter is not really something normal. Plenty of pictures of the damage which is massive, but I found this random picture of a baseball cap flying through a wall to be pretty damn wild.

Been all Seinfeld of late for dad, but anything that gets the thumbs up from both SAE and rudd will get a shot from me.

Damnit, the last place to get a stock tip should be KSR but after looking at the short % of AMC stock maybe they are the next short squeeze from the Reddit nerds. Bought 1K shares on a flyer.

Will defer all knowledgeable industry-wide takes to Brady, of course, but at the new Romany shop, I asked about a “basketball starter pack” for CF. Guy that was helping us pointed to two boxes. One (brand name is escaping me) was $50 for 5 cards; current NBA rookies . . . wearing their college uniforms. The other was NBA Hoops; $110 for 6 “standard” NBA player cards.

The guy was incredibly nice, it almost seemed as if he felt bad telling us this (it was clear we were completely out of our element). He said your best bet is to go to Meijer, Walmart, etc., and wait until they put out boxes for “regular price.” But people get tips, literally stand around and wait, and buy up everything on the shelves within minutes of distribution, from what I’m told.

The days of just riding your bike to the shop for a pack of cards and getting excited about opening them with your friends to see who got what appear to be long gone and unlikely to return. It’s big business now.

Aside from making shots/limiting turnovers of course, I could see Jackson being the key tonight if we are to pull the upset. As we know, it's either 3 or rim for Bama -- shade the perimeter, and Jackson is there to clean up or alter shots at the rim. They're 4/5 out & 1 in pretty much exclusively, it's a perfect game for him.

Of course, this would require 1.) Him staying out of foul trouble, which has proven difficult & 2.) Our coach not making him the 9th man off the bench, or forgetting him for 10 minute stretches.

The surge in popularity of basketball cards feels like cryptocurrency in terms of speculative buying. It all makes me feel 1000 years old. That said, I probably have a ton of baseball cards from the mid-80s when they got mass-produced. If Oddibe McDowell values take off, I guess I call Brady.

It would also require some weak side help rebounding. 😬

Hopefully Ware misses a rebound or gets in early foul trouble. 🤞

1. Run lineups with Brooks at the 4 - Toppin in a pinch.

2. Limit our midrange shots.

3. Hope they’re off.

Can’t believe I’m still in it with these dudes but here we are with me looking forward to the game tonight.

I CAN’T QUIT YOU!

They'll have Quinerly this game so that's another shooter to worry about. No Bruner but they can just plug in Reese who always plays well against us.
