Greatest SEC Tournament Game Ever?

Not the greatest, but one of my favorites is 1984 with Charles Barkley sitting on the floor crying like a baby after Kenny Walker's winning shot.

My favorite SEC tournament game I saw in person :

Kentucky 101 Alabama 100
Thursday, March 1 1979
(before the three point shot)

epic in every way
That's the one I was going to say. And we had to win out. In their wisdom the NCAA was limiting NCAA bid to 2 per conference. LSU had won the regular season. That was one. The conference tourney was the other. Only way to get an at large bid was if LSU won the tourney too.

Just an epic game. We won then had to play UT for the one to go to the tourney. I don't know if that Alabama game took our legs but we lost to UT.

* The 1995 Arkansas comeback from 9 down in OT is #1.

* The 2010 “Cousins tip in” to tie, followed by an OT win over Mississippi State is probably #2.

* A Top Five SEC tournament game that hasn’t been mentioned yet is the 2016 Final win in OT over Texas A&M. Great games by Murray and Ulis over a very good TA&M team.

Good list and a couple notes about that last one (I'm sure most remember these things, but still worth mentioning):
- revenge for what shouldn't even have been a loss at A&M (bullshit T on Humphries in OT)
- committee still gave A&M a 3 seed and us a 4 seed in perhaps the ultimate proof EVER that they don't care about the championship game...we tied them for the regular season, won the tournament title, and got a worse seed

There were some battles between Alabama and Arkansas in that same era. They were more enjoyable to watch for me because I was stressed out in the UK-UA game. NOW it would be the one game I'd like to rewatch.

Roderick Rhodes missed FTA at the end of regulation. Absolutely crushed him and his confidence. I don't think he played at all in OT. UK trailed the entire game and only led the last few seconds. What a game!!!👍

That Demarcus Cousins tip-in to TIE Miss. St. was a classic and signaled UK was back baby. YES I reacted like it was the game winner too!!!!!!! :)

Didn't start watching until later, but the Cousins tip-in against MS is still the best SEC game I've ever seen.

UK 101 Tennessee 40

Tomorrow is the anniversary of that game. March 12, 1993. “The Reckoning”.
I was in high school and had a class with Wade Houston’s daughter. It was the day of the game and she got me excited by saying Tennessee was gonna win that night. Since the blizzard hit later that afternoon a bunch of my friends stayed the night at my house and we were pumped for the game. I think we watched about twenty minutes.

I was there when Tennessee beat Kentucky in the title game in 79' too, of course. That was a great game, went to OT. Since that was the restart of the tournament year, it stood out for me for a long time. Seeing Macy throw that ball up at the end after beating Alabama was pure exhilaration.

I always thought it more than ironic until 2022, that was the only other time Tennessee ever won the SEC tournament. And when they won the regular season, they always shared the regular season crowns. Until recently.

Goes to show how good of a coach Barnes has been for them. And if the Vols don't make the Final Four THIS YEAR (?) will we keep saying it forever ? I'm getting tired of saying it.

They seeded UK 4th so they could arrange an IU vs UK round of 32 matchup.

Also, Dwight Anderson broke his wrist before the finals otherwise Kentucky maybe wins.

I remember a great game between Alabama & Arkansas during the 1992 tournament. 2 teams with loads of basketball talent making one great play after another.
That was my choice, too. To be fair, I never saw the 101-100 game. I'm surprised it's not on YouTube.

We beat LSU.

Anderson was hurt in that game.
