I dropped my season tickets about eight years ago and never had problems securing individual
game tickets . Always was able to get what I wanted at a very reasonable price.
Went on Ticketmaster last night . This year totally different . Had to pay about double what I had in the past for
similar tickets to Alabama, Tenn , and Florida , Even Missouri was more than I expected As were the cupcake games .
I love it for the program .

Huh..... I love paying double for everything I buy. It's great.
I'm so glad you agree that Kentucky football becoming a desirable commodity that can ask for greater prices due to demand is great.

I too am willing to pay more if it means we don't get rocked by Western "They 'sposed to be SEC" Kentucky University in any given year.

Microeconomics are fun!

You said it better than I did . All four SEC games will be sellouts and I suspect we will have record attendance even for the three cupcake games .program is getting where we all wanted it to be when Stoops was hired .
I would much rather pay more for an exciting product than expect to lose almost all SEC games . .

I am ready for Commonwealth to be the name again. Kroger Field is just awful. Kroger would garner some good rep if they would change it to Krogers Presents Commonwealth Stadium or actually just have signage everywhere except the name of the stadium. Heck I know it does not work that way but it is a horrible name.

I'll call it Commonwealth until I'm 6 feet in the cold, cold ground.

I guess it’s no worse than papa Johns so there is that. Also L&N railroad stadium. Isn’t that what U6 will be calling their place this year

At least they stopped trying to push "the Kroge" as some cool name

He means tickets are harder to get and more expensive than ever right now means interest is up. That's good for the program, you can't attract kids to a place that's empty the more fans and the more engagement the better.
Maybe he is exaggerating but if prices really doubled my guess is they would be playing in front of less people. Of course, nothing matters except how much money they make. Then again tickets were easy to get when our AD drove us down to the TWO two nobody wins.

I was speaking of resale tickets which bring what market will bear not UK original ticket price .

I remember selling out when we sucked horribly. I think greed has more to do with it then desirable product. I could be wrong. Well it's definitely both...... I'm having a very shity day, sorry if I sound like an asshole.

Oh, you're right, it's both. The whole premise of economics, what with thinking on the margin and trying to suck every possible dollar out of consumers (considered "rational" behavior), sucks. Greed and economics, unfortunately, are intertwined.

Would I still rather pay extra for tickets if it means we don't get whipped by crappy teams? Yes. Is the price hike egregious? For many Kentuckians, yes.

Apologies for piling on a bad day/week.

I think the most ridiculous thing is when you pay at the concession stand you can only pay by credit card and they try to make you feel cheap if you don’t tip them for getting you a coke and hot dog or $6.50 ice cream.

That one's not actually commenting on your post. They just want an excuse to post something critical of the AD again. Ssdd

? How would "selling out when we sucked horribly" "have more to do with greed..."?

As an AD you need to raise revenue, especially in the SEC. We were bottom of the ladder in both ticket prices and results for a long time. You maximize the potential of the program if you don't leave money on the table. You raise ticket prices to the point that the market will still bear it if you want to compete

Now BIG ASS FAN Stadium would be OK. Lexington Company and such. lol
Imagine the game day promotions... "Now stepping into the East end zone, tipping the scales at 470 lbs, the winner of this week's Big Blue Big Ass Fan contest, Slick Richard of Russell Springs, KY."

Macro Economics too! Your take is right on!

Yes it was incredibly sad, taking a decent football program from at least making a bowl game to TWO nobody wins in TWO consecutive seasons AND losing about 20,000 season ticket sales was incredibly sad.

Did you see the picture of the "recruiting room" that the UL recruits were making fun of, before signing with the nearby city college?

Yes, and the ticket office will get a lot of UK fans to pay double (or more) by giving tickets to desirable games to some outside "scalpers" to sell. I never did understand that. Maybe some fan that paid double for nosebleed tickets for sellout games can explain that to me.

And I always thought scalping tickets was illegal.

Nobody should get excited, even Slick, there will be lots of competition. Some incredible stories of what some people that weigh over six hundred pounds have gone through in order to get half their stomach removed to lose weight, before it killed them, they deserve our admiration. But too many of them get discouraged and give up. I have always wondered how strong they must be to carry all that weight around all day, but then by the time they use all the energy to carry it around there probably isn't a lot left to impress you with.
