I know Cal loves Briscoe's toughness, but dont you get the same toughness and D with Hawkins but with more offensive skill and experience?
Uh, no. Hawkins scores in double figures for the first time of his 3 year career and you're benching starters? Might want to think a little harder about that. Briscoe is in somewhat of a slump but has still scored more points in his last 5 games than Hawk has in any season he has been here. At the least I'd have to see more out of Hawkins before even thinking about changes.

Yes..... Briscoe could not hit a f/t if he was 2 feet from the rim. He is hurting this team now.I know Cal loves Briscoe's toughness, but dont you get the same toughness and D with Hawkins but with more offensive skill and experience?
Hawkins has to play to put up numbers. With the makeup of this team we need players on the floor that can make shots. I don't think I have ever witnessed a UK team this weak on the interior.
And the slashing advantage means nothing shooting FTs as poorly as he does
Hawkins and Mulder should get the bulk of Briscoe's minutes. Hawkins is just as good a defender and Mulder is a much better shooter and rebounder. Heck Mulder is a better rebounder than Skal. There is no reason to feature Brick because he us not a OAD.I know Cal loves Briscoe's toughness, but dont you get the same toughness and D with Hawkins but with more offensive skill and experience?
I think Mulder put himself in the mix at the 3. He's had several chances this year though. Willis and Mulder are both players that could really help us.. We just need an enforcer down low and we simply don't have it..
Yep.. He's hard on all the subs but someone has to emerge.. Tonight Mulder emerged with eight rebounds.. Willis is getting tougher and better too.. It's fine to second guess the coach, that's what fans do, but we're almost always wrong.. lolWhat chances have Mulder had? He has had very few meaningful minutes. He is another player that Cal has forced to look over his shoulders because he fears that a single mistake will send him to the bench.
One of those players will win a game for us later this season.. Maybe with the season on the line..Yep.. He's hard on all the subs but someone has to emerge.. Neither Briscoe, or Hawkins are interior players though. Hawkins hasn't earned more minutes or he'd been playing. You say he makes shots? He has a career avg of 29% shooting, freshman Briscoe is shooting 46%. On what factual basis can you make a case for Hawkins over Briscoe?
Assumptions don't win games, and while Briscoe has flaws their quite a bit smaller than Hawkins flaws to this point.
Mulder was terrible on defense tonight. I agree Hawkins needs more pt over Briscoe
