LSU with Shaq, Chris Jackson, & Stanley Roberts
vs
LMU with Bo Kimble, Hank Gathers, Fryer, and that offense that put up a shot every 5 seconds.

Watched that one Saturday morning on SEC Network. I had forgot how great it was to watch those LMU teams play and to LSU's credit they decided to run with them. With all of the weapons that LSU had that year, it is amazing they ever got beat.

Definitely worth watching, also some interesting commentary from Dale Brown.

It was on last Sunday night, and the shot clock operator's fingers might have fallen off. LMU would literally score 3 seconds into the shot clock.

I'm going slightly off-topic here, but I'm going to use this thread as an example of how much basketball has changed through the years (which has been a big topic with all the incredibly low-scoring games dotting the college landscape).

That Loyola team that played LSU, a team that scored 122 ppg, and that played a crazy style where shots went up seemingly as soon as their guys crossed halfcourt? They took 85.7 shots per game.

UK's 1975 team, a really good offensive team, and one of the highest-scoring teams in UK history, but a team that did nothing that anyone at the time thought was that far off the norm? They took 77.8 shots per game. Pretty far behind Loyola, but still within shouting distance.

UK this year? They take 57.8 shots per game.

What was the final score?
148-141. In regulation.

Kind of ominous when one of the announcers was talking about how Hank Gathers was taking some medication

after collapsing in a game earlier that year. He died on the court from that condition just a few weeks later.
