Good article on the current status of UK and Ole Miss

I don't see either leaving their present gig. Both have it made. Lane has plenty of coeds in the Grove to holler at. Stoops has his bourbon to run now here. I think both are in good spots.
Totally agree. Both need to retire at their present places of employ.

Auburn is a really bad job. Total control by outside influence. In the same state as Alabama. They will fire you within 2 years if you’re not beating Alabama and maintaining top 10 status, and even then if you’re not top 10 in recruiting they might fire you then. Auburn football is going to end up in a bad place eventually. Have no idea why any coach would want it. Kiffin is at his perfect match. Stoops is at his perfect match.

Kiffin has a lot more upside than Stoops imo, so I could see him taking a better job but he shouldn’t. He fits so well in Oxford.

LANE KIFFEN, doesnt hang his hat to long in any place. i look for him to leave ole miss for a better program. maybe not this year, but he will move

He shouldn’t, but he will eventually. However, he’s already turned down Arkansas. I can’t see him taking Auburn unless he wants to go at Saban. Auburn is going to hire High Freeze anyway.

The only jobs he’s going to want would be in the SEC. If he can win at ole miss and compete for the playoff why leave? I think he wanted the LSU job, so at this point I only think he’d leave if Texas, Oklahoma, or maybe Florida opens again. Other than that, can’t see it.

Yep. Oxford’s only got so many that’s willing. He won’t be there 3 years from now if he keeps winning. And I think he will. He is the type wanting a Bama, OSU type job. And will probably end up getting it.

No way I see Kiffin leaving the SEC. He loves it, I guess OSU or Michigan could lure him but I don’t think it fits so I doubt they offer. LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, Florida yes. Other than that I think he’s not leaving. He’s already turned down Arkansas.

Like I said I doubt he’d take Auburn but even if he would they’re probably going to hire High Freeze from liberty anyway.

Time will tell. But he won’t stay in Oxford very long imo.

No doubt! Auburn is a tough gig at any time in history but especially now. When the yardstick you’re measured by is Nick Saban, if you’re not just looking for a payday, you’re better off waiting on something else to open up.

Oh hell no. He doesn't recruit very well, and doesn't like it. That's why LSU stayed far away last yr. He's not going to be pursued by any better job than what he has niw.

You’re right. But that’s what I’m seeing in Kiffin. Looking for a payday, and limelight. He will bolt Oxford next chance he gets.

Is he biden his time to jump to Bama in 3-4 years when Saban is gone?

He doesn't really have to though, and I really really don't think they want to him to

Remember "Grab your popcorn" or whatever he said last year?

Are you stoned? Drunk or high? Just wondering.

I mean it is what it is. Kiffin will be sought out by a blue blood football program. I’m not sure Stoops will. Kiffin was given the keys to top programs at a very young age. I don’t think anyone can honestly say Stoops has a higher ceiling than Kiffin.

Good question

thats true. I’m good with that too. Stoops is where he should be. Kiffin isn’t where he wants to be imo. That’s all good for UK.

Probably not a popular opinion but if Stoops left would love to see Lane here. Love his offenses. SEC experience, think he has mellowed and matured a bit. Some see us as a lateral move but I think we are a better destination than Ole Miss at this point.

Auburn will see value in Freeze. I'm betting they get him comparatively cheap in the scratch and dent aisle.

Only because Kiffin hasn't done anything yet. He's gone to "blue blood" programs and hasn't stayed long enough for anyone to see what he's really made of. All of Kiffin's big stops as a program have either already been there or already had a huge recruiting base. He's not even gotten them back to their pinnacles, much less surpassed them until Ole Miss where he guided them to their first, 10 win regular season.

Stoops has taken a mostly bottom of its division dweller and molded it into a competitive team. Competitive in recruiting AND on the field. As far as "ceilings" yet to go, they are about even. For Stoops to go where UK and Kiffin never has he has to win the East. (Technically, most of the conference wouldn't count our best years of the 70s because of the investigation.)

By comparison Kiffin bailed and failed at UT and USC- Conference USA successes not withstanding. Kiffin and Stoops both have 2, 10 win seasons in major conferences, though one of those for Kiffin was the Pac12.

He's obviously a great OC, as he's had much success on that side of the ball most years. We have yet to see how he does as a HC at one school over 10yrs

Has Lane Kiffen left any head coaching job voluntarily? I think his hat isn't hung long because he has been fired.

Kiffin failed at every blue blood that hired him.

This is Kiffins super bowl against UK. He beats UK, he takes over UKs spot in the polls. In one win he becomes Top 10. That’s a lot for UK to overcome on the road., with or without Chris Rod.

The crazy thing about Kiffin is in his 11 years as a head coach in college, his teams have only finished the season in the top 25 twice. Not staying at specific jobs long enough probably has something to do with that.

He left Tennessee on his own. He left FAU or FIU for Ole Miss. so yeah he’s left voluntarily

He was super close to taking the Arkansas job but the program was in such shambles at the time it's easy to see why he would have chosen Ole Miss. Of course, depending on who you ask there are rumors he was trying to leverage the two jobs against each other and the Arkansas AD told him to screw off.

Much different situation coming from FAU than already being at an SEC program though.
