I mean no disrespect towards Pope. I love Pope so far, just saying I think Golden would do a great job at Kentucky and is very young.
Golden looks like a great young coach. So does Pope though, seeing as how when WE WERE HEALTHY we beat Florida.
This year is the year of the healthy vs the injured.
IF we just stayed healthy, things would be different.
No coaching can prevent in-game injuries.

There is no way a coach leaves Florida for Indiana.
I do believe there was something to the accusations against Golden. The University cleaned that issue right up.

He finished with a losing record his first year at Florida and didn’t make the NCAA tournament.
Golden would not have survived the allegations if he had been coach at UK.
MB would have suspended him and fired him shortly thereafter.
I mentioned Golden when the opening at UK happened. I'm happy with Pope, but Golden would have crushed it here.

As did I he was my choice after Hurley and other big names. Glad we have the Pope however. He knows BBN like no other and should kill it here.
Golden has the most narrow shoulders I’ve seen on a grown man. I just don’t think we need that kind of thing at the University of Kentucky.
I'm certainly not shitting on him, I think he's done a hell of a job under this seasons circumstances. I just think Golden is a hell of a young candidate.
Remember, on good season does not a coach make. See Davis and NCST's now fired coach.

I would at this point not trade Pope for Golden however I would rosters.
Too many people are oddly ready to move on from Pope already. Those people will never be happy with anyone. They could get a young Rick Pitino and probably be done with him in a year or two. The amount of people that simply can't see this season, in it's entirety, and comprehend it is honestly amazing. Considering we are supposed to be a fanbase that knows basketball.
Yeah, that whole situation is still weird. "We have digital evidence" and the University heavily investigated.
Either someone said they had evidence and completely fabricated it, or something got swept under the rug. And in this day n' age, either is equally plausible.
Now if he wins a title, that's a different story. BUT, along with a title comes raised expectations. Especially in the SEC.
We had a decent roster before it got put through the wringer.
Who said they where ready to move on from Pope? I'm certainly not ready to. I think he will do good. I'd damn sure rather gamble on a 39 year old Golden than be screwing around with Scott Drew. I just think he would have done well at Kentucky also.
