He clearly would be a good hire, but why would he want to work for a head coach that restricts his offense? And on top of that he is Chumlee guy. For a coach wanting to grow his resume, just can't see him leaving where he is right now, even for 2m a year, which UT would match.
What if he doesn't want to leave?

You guys ever going to figure out that it’s not the OC that’s the problem? Let’s look at them since CMS has been here. Correct me where I’m wrong…Neal Brown, Shannon Dawson, Eddie Gran, Liam Coen, Rich Scangasomething. That’s 5 guys, I don’t think it’s as much them as it is Stoops pulling on the reins. If he has to hire another one then the guy should insist on complete autonomy on running the offense.

Their literal plan isn't to just fool you and snap the ball before the defense gets on off the ground.

I was under impression huepel called the offensive plays? Am I wrong?
What we're doing isn't working well offensively and hasn't won a division in a lot longer time than Heupel has been there. It's mostly boring as hell as well. You can see which style will attract offensive players. While we're here praying we don't lose any of the few key players we have.
I think the only chance we have here to get over the hump and the recruiting disadvantage is to be nontraditional. The check to the sidelines while burning up the clock isn't working (if your goal is to compete for a championship). Unless you like finishing at just 7 or 8 wins most years. That is going to be even more challenging with the conference getting tougher.

Now said to be a Cincy HC possibility. From Ohio and a great recruiter, that sounds like a perfect fit for him to move up the ladder closer to his dream OH ST job.
Some fans will remember Stoops tried to hire Lincoln after Brown left. Brother Bob cut in. We settled for someone who was a bad bad fit who only lasted a yr. Dawson was so bad Stoops had to take over a lot of offensive planning that season.
