Metcalf County vs Warren East.

.5 tenths left. Warren East hits what would be the tying free throw yet ref waives it off because the girl behind the three point line didn’t wait until it hit the rim. Shit way to end a game.

I get it is technically the correct call. But something about that probably 50 year ref probably not calling that all year and then does that to that young girl seems terrible.
Calling it despite it having no effect on the play is what bothers me. Such a stupid call made by someone who wanted to make the call.

It’s like calling holding in football opposite side of the field despite it not affecting the run.

I don't mind it being called, it's the rule. Just a bad play by the violator, what's the higher percentage? Your player makes an unguarded shot or you heroically fly in from behind the 3 pt line and get a put back? Gotta be mentally tougher than that.

It’s the right call, and it needs to be made.

She’s trying to gain an illegal advantage.

Games are often won/lost at the margin on how well teams know and execute basic rules.

If the defensive player does the same thing and the shooter misses, everyone wants the shooter to get another attempt.
There is nothing gained with a made basket.

It's a violation, it needs to be called, but call all the violations. How many 3 second violations are there every game? How many times do players carry the basketball? How many times do defenders put their hands on the offensive player to change their direction? The game has turned into a game of just how many calls can we get away with if we just. continually break the rules.

Are you serious? No effect on the play. If he lets it go I believe it tied the game. You have to call it. It a rule and the violation was as obvious as the nose on your face. It is nothing like the football comparison you referenced. You don’t get to pick and choose where you enforce the rules.

First off, chill. Second, this game would’ve went to OT and been decided by the girls not a ref. The girl coming into the lane did not make the free throw go in. No advantage was gained by this so it’s exactly like my football example of holding on the opposite side of the field- calling a penalty for the sake of a penalty.

The made basket is the advantage. What is wrong with you people? The girl violated and it should always be called. You all are too used to SEC officiating. Damn.
That girl could’ve been in the parking lot, it didn’t make the ball go in. 😂

Do you volunteer to give yourself a speeding ticket for going 56 mph in a 55?

It’s a rule Heisman. The refs are not supposed to pick and choose when they enforce them. This play was not advantage - disadvantage like getting bumped on a rebound and no foul being called. This is a blatant rules violation and must be called. I have been reffing for 49 years and would make that call every time no matter when it happened. You are way wrong here.

It's a rule in CBB too. You just never see it because it's a really dumb mistake.

It's a bit wonky that the players on the line can get into the lane before the shot hits the rim, but the other player can't. But that's the rule.

I’m kinda with you on this. My only issue is that it was so blatant. She was inside the logo by the time the ball went in. That’s probably 10 feet past where she is technically allowed by the rule. Had it been less obvious, it’s a definite no call for me if the shot goes in. I get it had no impact on the play but it was so obvious.
