Anybody remember Kyle macy he transferred to Kentucky from Purdue
Maybe but he showed way more than Perry has, especially as a ball handler with the ability to run a team.Braden Smith had a long way to go too when he was a freshman. He stayed in the system and developed, I expect Perry to do the same.
Yeah UT loses a lot of key pieces to their nice 5 year run, Ole Miss loses 8 seniors as does T A@M, Auburn loses a lot of their top guys, I think Florida should return some good core pieces if they don’t go pro. Overall a lot of stalwarts for the good teams will be gone.We have the #1 HS class in the SEC right now..
We need at least a top 3 portal class to compliment it.
The entire SEC with maybe the exception of Vandy will be in reboot mode for 25'-26'.
None of the top SEC teams are just going to run it back next year.
Pope gets a pass this year as he should but next year is a level playing field with the other SEC coaches/programs.
Next year will be all about how well you replaced what you lost because the SEC is losing a ton of talent through graduation and early entry.
No SEC coach should be saying " they can't play with us" about UK next season.
If they can that's on Pope.
Good. I also hope that our conference's elite coaches start to leave for the NBA.Yeah UT loses a lot of key pieces to their nice 5 year run, Ole Miss loses 8 seniors as does T A@M, Auburn loses a lot of their top guys, I think Florida should return some good core pieces if they don’t go pro. Overall a lot of stalwarts for the good teams will be gone.
Wasn't Purdue a #1 seed when Smith was a freshman?Maybe but he showed way more than Perry has, especially as a ball handler with the ability to run a team.
You potentially could add KK to that list.We need 4 studs or at least high level players from the portal.
That is with me playing a dangerous game of assuming everyone returns:
1. Brandon Garrison - C
2. Travis Perry - CG
3. Collin Chandler - SG/SF
4. Trent Noah - SF
5. Otega Oweh - SG
6. Moreno
7. Johnson
8. Lewis
Players 9-12 need to be big time to fill out that roster.
Yeah they were a 1 or 2.Wasn't Purdue a #1 seed when Smith was a freshman?
It's really hard to put Travis Perry into words or to figure out where he falls as a player.
To me he plays tight and you can tell he has to exert max effort just to compete.
When you compare 2 6ft white dudes to each other, it's hard to explain why one is so much better than the other when measurables seem equal.
If we do it will be PT related not NIL.You potentially could add KK to that list.
But also, to be realistic we should expect to lose 1-2 to the portal, keeping in mind over 2000 we’re in the portal last year, and even top teams lost guys, guys who played a lot.
It could be both, but NIL is more likely the reason. But like last year Duke lost starters Roach and Mitchell. UT lost the C.If we do it will be PT related not NIL.
If I recall correctly Macy played one year at Purdue. He became an all-American at UK. Smith has already gone to a national title game is from a relatively short distance from West Lafayette and is adored. Why isn't it close?
Macy was a 3 time all American.
Ky is a bigger brand than Purdue.
Those teams have proven in the past they can plug holes in their rosters with high-level portal guys. Every new year is a newly constructed roster now. That's the reality of where we are because most transfers are coming in with limited eligibility. I think we should worry more about Kentucky than what other teams in the league are doing. Our success or lack thereof will be dependent on OUR roster construction. Not Auburn and Tennessee's.Yeah UT loses a lot of key pieces to their nice 5 year run, Ole Miss loses 8 seniors as does T A@M, Auburn loses a lot of their top guys, I think Florida should return some good core pieces if they don’t go pro. Overall a lot of stalwarts for the good teams will be gone.

When it's all said and done he will accept the best Purdue can do NIL wise and return for his SR yearIf I recall correctly Macy played one year at Purdue. He became an all-American at UK. Smith has already gone to a national title game is from a relatively short distance from West Lafayette and is adored.
I mean it could happen, but I’d be shocked, and in this day and age not much shocks me anymore.
Funny there is so much discussion over what I consider just speculation.
Just my $.02
Roach and Mitchell had market value. It could be both, but NIL is more likely the reason. But like last year Duke lost starters Roach and Mitchell. UT lost the C.
PT and NIL are connected. If you are slotted for 15-20 mpg, you probably getting less than 25-30 mpg guy.
Then there can be other reasons, like Chandler’s fiancée.
Garrison could. So could Kriisa. And ChandlerRoach and Mitchell had market value.
Oweh is the only player we have with true market value.
No one interested in Perry or Noah could afford them or wouldn't afford them.
Yep.Yeah UT loses a lot of key pieces to their nice 5 year run, Ole Miss loses 8 seniors as does T A@M, Auburn loses a lot of their top guys, I think Florida should return some good core pieces if they don’t go pro. Overall a lot of stalwarts for the good teams will be gone.
I'd say BG would be the only one of the three that would be considered a top 50 portal player.Garrison could. So could Kriisa. And Chandler
Everyone develops at a different pace, if Perry can be a Braden Smith in 2 years, we will love it.Maybe but he showed way more than Perry has, especially as a ball handler with the ability to run a team.
They lose Martin and Richard also.Yep.
KY, UF, bama will be the cream of the crop in the league next season.
UF loses Clayton, but the portal will be stacked w guards to fill that role. UFs core forwards and bigs are pretty young if I’m not mistaken. They are set for a good 2-3 year run
UT takes a step back and Barnes may retire.
Pearl will throw together a good Auburn team but they lose some key pieces and Johni Broome’s aren’t every day portal pickups
I don't like that Agbim's team only won 12 games.I want Dent and the Wyoming guard Agbim. Those two have the speed and athleticism to play both offense and defense in the SEC.
Alex Condon, Thomas Haugh will likely return, and UF already has a good base... UF will be good next year as well as long as UF grabs 2 good guards in portal...Yeah UT loses a lot of key pieces to their nice 5 year run, Ole Miss loses 8 seniors as does T A@M, Auburn loses a lot of their top guys, I think Florida should return some good core pieces if they don’t go pro. Overall a lot of stalwarts for the good teams will be gone.
We shouldn't be playing on Thursday next SEC tournament.Alex Condon, Thomas Haugh will likely return, and UF already has a good base... UF will be good next year as well as long as UF grabs 2 good guards in portal...
I bet one of UK, Bama or UF will be the SEC regular season champion.
I'm not buying the story just saying there was some talk that I overheard .I added a 4th emoji to the three already there , like love wow and mine was laughter … I’m so damn old , 4 mil a year in college for Oweh .. I should cry instead of laugh .
Wasn’t that left handed midget basketball phenom a finalist ? Meaning top 10 for that means nothing .. nada … if he comes we need a super athlete at the 2 and 3 . Players who can stop dribble penetration , because even with JR or Brea we can’t stop any guard without Lamont being healthy .
You’ve hit it in my mind, Fox2Monk. Perry is a little bigger than Smith but completely different in the skills they’ve developed over their playing careers. Smith developed as a PG. Perry developed more focused on scoring – getting to spots, constant moving, etc. to get his shot. I think ball handling is both the most prominent difference between Smith and Perry at the PG spot and the number one skill for Perry to develop if he’s going to play PG (which I think he needs to do to play a significant Div. I role).Maybe but he showed way more than Perry has, especially as a ball handler with the ability to run a team.
Bama loses Sears, Nelson, Omoruyi, and Wrightsell.Yep.
KY, UF, bama will be the cream of the crop in the league next season.

Wouldn't Wrightsell be able to get a medical redshirt?Bama loses Sears, Nelson, Omoruyi, and Wrightsell.
You're right. I forgot all about his injury. Torn achilles. Tough injury. Painful just thinking about it.Wouldn't Wrightsell be able to get a medical redshirt?
We need the teams in the SEC to be great as it helps UK seeding. UK just needs to get their roster to that levelYeah UT loses a lot of key pieces to their nice 5 year run, Ole Miss loses 8 seniors as does T A@M, Auburn loses a lot of their top guys, I think Florida should return some good core pieces if they don’t go pro. Sounds like another wheeler maybe with a better shot. We need guys who can defend mark. Bbn likes points but wins are where it’s at. Gotta be able to win in the 60s or 70s if we have to.Article says his defense is limited. Isn’t that our issue this year?
It looks like to me that Perry can go by his man almost every time he touches the ball but he doesn't try because he isn't confident he can get his shot off. He should watch video of Antonio Reeves' junior and senior years. He looked like just a jump shooter and then his last year he unveiled a great floater and a great Euro-step and they made a big improvement in his game. That would make a big difference in Perry's game. Perry also needs to work on some layups he can get off, i.e. reverse layups and high flips off the glass. Those who think Perry can never be a player need to visualize him being stronger and with those elements added to his game; he is not a finished product. You’ve hit it in my mind, Fox2Monk. I believe that Perry needs to hire a person to work with him daily this off-season on ball-handling (I saw a video snippet of Noah working with somebody like this). Perry is dribbling in a straight line as fast as he can to get by his defender, which is what most players and especially non-PGs do (e.g., Oweh). If you’re DeAaron Fox or John Wall this can work alright, but not for most if you want to be really good at the Point. And being able to go behind the back or through the legs is not what I’m talking about. Perry doesn’t need to run faster he needs the ball more so “on a string,” with stop-and-go, change direction on a dime with body fakes and step-backs, play off of two feet and not get sped up (e.g., dribbling in traffic in place for a second or two without fear as a probing device).

Not me, I want the SEC to be the dominant conference every year and I want UK to win it every year.Good. I also hope that our conference's elite coaches start to leave for the NBA.

Yep you guys loved wheeler until about half way through his first season. Most of you thought he was the best transfer we pulled. Then the defense. If this guy can’t defend it’s going to be difficult. I haven’t seen him play I just read that article and I got a wheeler feel from it. But I remember you loved wheeler even when his short comings were evidentWheeler?
Are you serious?
