Get ready for Mychal Mulder to be a cat

There are some other very good schools after him as well. Just because we are just now hearing his name or that he is a JUCO doesn't mean this kid isn't a very good player.

Larry Vaught has a very good article about him with a lot of quotes from his coach. As always, I trust Cal completely in recruiting. I think this kid will a very good addition.

Wow, that kid had his head even with the rim on several of those throw downs.

He also shot a lot of threes last season and has a great shooting %.

His stats from this previous year are very solid as a sophomore. He was recruited by the big boys out of high school (IU in particular) and choose JC instead. So he isn't a typical JC transfer. We don't need him to be the next Steve Francis. We need him to play within the offense and knock down open 3s and 15 footers and play defense. At those % he seems to be able to do that while playing within the offense.
Exactly . we have 2 of the 10 best guards in college next year with Ulis and Briscoe ( who is an absolute beast man ) . We just need one more guy who cand drain a 3.
Ulis and Briscoe are "locks" to be here next year and why Newman won't be here.

You think it's a good thing if we don't get Newman?WOW.

Wants to move from SG to PG so the offense HAS to go through him to increase HIS offensive opportunities.

Poster never said it was a good thing he wasn't coming.... He was stating an educated opinion that at UK he can not be THE GUY at PG or the 2. He WILL have to share minutes and after a few of his recent comments I'm not sure Newman is cool with that...which is his personal choice.

Wrong. You looked at 13-14 stats, his frosh year.

!n 14-15 he was 15.7 points and 6.4 rebounds and shot 46.3 (88-190) from three, 46% from the field and 80% from the free throw line.

I know you tend to be negative, but at least use the correct stats.

I like his hops, he can finish, seems to play D, and has a great stroke. Come on down, Mychal!
Gotta love it when someone tries to dampen the mood and put down a recruit by using the wrong stats to try to serve his point.

Not only that, I believe this is the second thread where that poster has provided the wrong stats for Mulder. He got corrected in the other thread as well, yet now has done it again.

I realize it's against juco competition, but Mulder's stats this year are damn impressive. That 46 percent three point shooting is EXACTLY what we need. And he also has damn impressive rebounding numbers for a player his size.

Vinnie Johnson
Tiny Archibald (Tiny had one of those "arguably the best" seasons (72-73) as a pro so "arguably the best" guard in history had been a juco player.)

I bet there are plenty more. But as others have pointed out, Muldur isn't needed or expected to be at that level.

The thing that stood out to me in the highlight clips I watched was the fact that he could actually jump pretty high for rebounds and dunks. Not really what I was expecting when I saw that he was a 6'4" JUCO sharpshooter from Canada. I was expecting Uncle Julius 2.0, good leader, above average shooter, and poor athleticism.

It's honestly better to have this guy than to end up with no outside shooter at all. A 2 year guy that provides some depth and fills a need and won't scare off any of the studs we're after in the 2016 class.

And that's fine. UK needs a few higher end role players like Roburt Sallie was for Cal at Memphis.

A guy who can give 6 to 9 points a game off the bench and shoot as an efficient perimeter clip. UK doesn't have that right now.

Some of these post, man.......

Some of Coach Cals best squads in his coaching entirety have had players just like Mulder on them. To be honest, it will be nice seeing some recruits that are geared for the college game. I love both aspects, and love superstars, but don't forget this is college basketball and players like this help make runs to final fours.

Ulis and Briscoe is going to be one of the best backcourts in America next year. Poythress should be on of the best defensive PF and a contender for DPOY award. A few really good role guys like Mulder could go a really long way.

This board is SEVERELY underrating this team next year. We will be top 10 most of the year at least.
