Get ready for Mychal Mulder to be a cat

8.2 points and 4.2 rebounds in 28 games for the Vincennes Trailblazers. Just listing his real stats before the dream posters here start elevating him into this "all world" superstar. Also listed as a 6'4" front court player not a guard.

But instead of getting back on defense does mulder do lame a$$ hand signals after every made or missed shot?!

Actually shot over 46% from 3. If he can shoot over 40% for us it will keep defense honest and open up offense for everyone

He averaged 15.6 points last season and about 7 rbs per game.

there's been like two quality guards in the history of college basketball who transferred from juco, nick van exel and steve francis, hopefully if we land him this guy will be the third

If that is the case I fear we are in trouble.I doubt that Newman wants to be on a team with Briscoe and Ulis

I scanned for the link that someone posted on this site yesterday, but couldn't find it.

I recall seeing about 14-15 ppg and 40+% from beyond the 3 line. (maybe this link wasn't accurate, and he really did go for 8 ppg).

If you're gonna link something, try linking his last season. He averaged nearly 16 ppg, 7 rb, and shot 47% from 3. Now you know something.

This^^^^^^^.....he wants a coach that will let him play out of position to increase his offensive opportunities... that's where Miss State and Howland step in.

Wrong. You looked at 13-14 stats, his frosh year.

!n 14-15 he was 15.7 points and 6.4 rebounds and shot 46.3 (88-190) from three, 49% from the field and 80% from the free throw line.

I know you tend to be negative, but at least use the correct stats.

I like his hops, he can finish, seems to play D, and has a great stroke. Come on down, Mychal!

Gotta love it when someone tries to dampen the mood and put down a recruit by using the wrong stats to try to serve his point.

Great - maybe he can lure a couple of other Canadian prospects down here next year.

His stats from this previous year are very solid as a sophomore. He was recruited by the big boys out of high school (IU in particular) and choose JC instead. So he isn't a typical JC transfer. We don't need him to be the next Steve Francis. We need him to play within the offense and knock down open 3s and 15 footers and play defense. At those % he seems to be able to do that while playing within the offense.

Also, for what it's worth, his coach says that his defense has improved exponentially. I imagine that if Cal is able to bring any freshman in and have them buy into the system, he can get this guy to completely buy in and learn how to be a very good defender. This is the king of presence we need on the perimeter.

If he is coming from Juco, he should have two years left.

Not sure about the 'king' of presence but if he can hit 46% of the 3's he" jacks" up from the premiter he might be our 'ace' in the hole

I think he makes a great addition. Doesn't have to be all world, just solid. He can jump and shoot. If he can't defend he'll have two years to learn how. The way he jumps he should be a good rebounder. Briscoe and Matthews are. Despite our size in the backcourt the past season the twins and Booker were poor rebounders. Shouldn't be the case next season.

A good point,if Mulder ends up here just for fun who gets the most minutes Matthews or Mulder?

Exactly . we have 2 of the 10 best guards in college next year with Ulis and Briscoe ( who is an absolute beast man ) . We just need one more guy who cand drain a 3.

I think Mulder because he is the better shooter.

Ulis and Briscoe are "locks" to be here next year and why Newman won't be here.

So his exact stats from last year per Vincennes Universtiy's official website are:

15.7 points
6.9 rebounds
1.8 assists
1.1 turnovers
0.8 blocks
0.4 steals
48.8% total FG
44.7% 3-point FG
80% FT

He attempted around 5.6 3-point FG per game, so his percentage is pretty impressive. Also, his overall shooting percentage is really good, which means he's not just a volume scorer. He seems like someone who could come in and provide some much needed shooting while not having to be "the man" as some other recruits might need. He's not the sexy recruit, but he plays a crucial role.

Starters:

Ulis
Briscoe
Mulder
Poythress
Labissiere

Bench:

Matthews
Hawkins
Lee
Willis

That's a contending team. They probably need one more big, and I could easily see that team making a run at the FF next year. And it would be a really fun team to watch.

Grow the f up and move on with your life already.

Devin Booker was part of a team that gave us the most enjoyable regular season in UK basketball history. But hey, we lost a one possession game with a minute left against a great Wisconsin team in the Final Four so f them all. Good lord.

As for defense, his highlight reel does show that he seems to put the effort in. It shows quite a few blocks and steals. Now I know it's JUCO competition, but at least the effort is there. Most mixtapes are all dunking and jumpers.
