Get ready for a 20 team SEC

Vanderbilt, Duke, Wake Forest, UVA Northwestern, Boston College, Syracuse, Baylor, BYU, Stanford, Cal, Army, Air Force, Navy, Georgia Tech, Rice... this would be an interesting new conference after this all shakes out. Could they make it?

"Jumbo Ivy League"
And Louisville...don't forget Louisville...

Va Tech (Virginia alternate)
UNC (Nc State alternate)
Miami
Clemson

then vote to kick out Vandy and USC Jr.

Sell out for Notre Dame. If they won’t do it, maybe one of Houston/TCU/Baylor, Cincinnati, Maryland or the alternates listed above. Running out of states to get a foot in.

To me UNC, Miami, and Clemson are the obvious ones. Then it’s whether you want Florida State or Va Tech.

Va Tech / UNC4 / NC State / Fla State. If we go to 24 teams add Virginia / Ga Tech / Clemson / Louisville (just to se them lose almost ever game every year in most sports).

I think every possible expansion team should come from the ACC and I guarantee you that commish is scared to death right now.
If we expand to 20 I think FSU and Clemson are no brainers at this point.
the other two is where it gets tricky. As bad as we’d hate it, I think lville would be the best fit in terms of bringing the “entertainment” to the conference. For real though, I think they need to be in. Would also give KY two teams in the sec.
The last one is a complete toss up. Personally I don’t want any other ACC team except a small possibility for miami. Maybe go big 12 and steal ok state to keep that ok rival?

Thats actually an awesome idea. I think BYU, Baylor, and Stanford would be the usual best teams but I wouldn't sleep on Northwestern in that conference.

This is the answer. Gets us into NC and VA/DC markets.

Clemson is who should have been added over SC the first go around and is a better cultural fit

FSUvUF, USCvClemson would both be primetime rivalry games to bring in revenue.

UKvUNC instantly becomes the hottest rivalry in CBB bc Duke gets left out of the realignment shuffle and will not be a P5 program…over time that $ Loss has an impact… and a rivalry in football due to the bball connection.

I prefer NC State as a school and program but UNC brings more to the table

One thing I keep hearing about is the media markets, I listened to a almost 50 minute interview with Burke Magnus the #2 guy at ESPN. He actually said when they are doing TV contracts that the media markets are down the list of things they take into consideration. He didn’t put a number on it but it seemed like the media markets thing is like 4th or 5th down the list.

he basically said they look at things like the best matchups, rivalries and other things that will bring viewers before they look at media markets. He talked about the need to start monetizing other sports and it’s one reason they are moving the Womens Final Four to ABC.

I will post the link as he talks about why ESPN didn’t pickup any of the Big 10, talks a good bit on the SEC and how he doesn’t see them adding any other schools anytime in the near future. He also said he doesn’t see it being just two mega conferences and that there will still be a Power 5. The video is like an 1hr and 17 minutes long and Burke Magnus comes in around the 23 or 24 minute mark. Like I said his interview goes for about 50 minutes or so and is a pretty good listen.

I don’t see North Carolina @ Chapel Hill and Virginia going to anywhere other than the B1G. I could see NC State and VPI coming to SEC.
And Nc st has about 20,000 more students than UNC. So they actually have a bigger alumni base. This is a football decision so St makes more sense to me than unc.

Wow, I didn't realize that.

I've seen Miami mentioned here by some, but they would be way down any list I'd compile. FSU is, IMHO, a much better choice.

I like Houston,Baylor, and TCU to go along with Notre Dame. Totally different than anything I've herd. That wraps up pretty much all of Texas. The Irish puts the SEC right in the biggest BIG Ten market. Chicago. What do you think about this idea?

with tv markets drying up, it’d be a coup to get the chicago market. That’s probably too much in Texas. Houston gets you whatever isn’t taken by UT and AM.

If the SEC gets UNC and Clemson then the ACC is all but done. Football will have no one left and basketball will only have Duke left. In the end it's looking like we will have 3 super conferences in the NCAA. BIG "10", Big "12", and SEC.

I'm all for NC State, shesh. They did us all a big favor. UNC caught the wrath of the Wolf Pack. Tore them apart.... That maybe should get them a seat at the table?

Miami's golden era is looking further away from ever returning. The off campus stadium makes them have lousy attendance save for when they are winning big.

SEC is the top conference because it dominates in recruiting. We need to keep the hotbed for recruits in the SEC. The more exposure Big10 gets in Atlanta or Miami the easier it is to convince kids to head there.

I don't think ND wants any part if the SEC. But you are correct would be a great addition. Until their little ACC deal they play a couple good teams and several not so good. They feel their academics are too high for us Neanderthals in the SEC.
