Gary Parrish and Dan Dakich go at it on Twitter

It wasn't great, but Parrish is just dumb for calling Dakich's coaching career a "total failure." He took over a thoroughly-depleted Bowling Green program, and after a tough first year, got them to 22-8 and 24-9 type seasons a couple years later. He lasted a full decade at BGSU, won more than he lost there, and finished with a career winning record.

it might not be greatness, but what Dakich did as a player at IU and coach at BGSU sure as shit beats Parrish's "never played or coached at all" resume.

Parrish never shut Micheal Jordan down in a game either..

What's worse? Uhhh, never having played the game at any significant level, never coaching even a girls' soccer team, basing your 'expertise' on sitting in the bleachers eating popcorn and spending your 30s and 40s sniffing the jocks of 19-year-olds and living vicariously through their accomplishments is clearly 'worse' than playing major D-1 basketball and at least having had the experience of coaching men's basketball at the college level.

Not Dakich's biggest fan, but he wins this one in a rout. As for Parrish, that was the most stupid case of asking a question that you should never have asked I've seen lately.

Was the original post by Parrish even aimed at Dakich? Either way, I like them both even if they are blow hards.

After the Bahamas.. Yeah, I'm ready to go to bat for Dakich. Honestly, any media pundit that isn't in Duke/UNCs corner (or any other school) I'm on board with. Because it's hard to find ones that aren't biased towards some of the other blue bloods.

May be in the minority here but I actually enjoy Dakich calling games. Pretty knowledgeable about the game and doesn't suck up to Duke/UNCheat like Bilas and Vitale. I think he is a fan of the game vs. a jock rider of teams, players or coaches.
Most sane UK fans enjoy it when Dakich does our games.

It's the over the top UK fans that hate anyone that says anything that can be interpreted as a negative slant towards UK, a UK player, a UK coach or even a urinal cake in a UK dorm bathroom, that don't like Dakich.

The guy tells it like it is and he's very entertaining. He'll take a verbal shot at anyone on air and it's usually jaw dropping and right. Love it.

God help him if he does it to Cal though.

I think for a while, fans thought Dakich had an axe to grind with Kentucky, and maybe to some extent he does (playing for IU and all). But he seems to have no faults with Kentucky this year or last, and just calls it like he sees it.

And the way he "sees it" may be wrong from time to time, but as long as it isn't biased, and can give credit where it's due.. He's good by me.

Living near sh*thole Memphis, get to see this up close. GP is the lead idiot of the merry band of Memphian's on sports radio who believe Memphis is and will be relevant. Dakich owned this moron. Listen to him talk sometime; needs to spit the marbles out of his mouth.

Is it better to have coached and lost than never to have coached at all?
