Gameday discussion

Sorry for the inconvenience, but can someone explain what was actually said? I wasn't able to watch.

Best thing about this game day is the brunette cheerleader that's 100 times more striking than Louise Amsi standing directly over Steven a Smith's shoulder at the round table discussion
No pun but aTm does not have cheerleaders. Girl was with dance team. They have "yell leaders" and they are all boys. They are a strange bunch in CS

one panelist out of 5 suggested that with an nba roster, cal should of won a title last year
Kinda but imo, it went more like this. An Alabama grad whose witnessed several Saban championships thinks UK fans expect more titles than what Cal has provided to date, one. Bottom-line, although we demand the very best, this is not college football and the NCAA Tournament is not the BCS or the football playoff by any stretch of the imagination.

I want to preface this by saying I am not an ESPN conspiracy theorist. I do think they coddle UNC due to Skipper being UNC guy, just not enough talk about it.

I have heard this from some people up in the Connecticut corridors say that R. Davis loves to rile the Big Blue, loves to rattle the cages so to speak. He did this with Digger, he would make comments that made it seem that BBN was losing it' mind over an early loss or just something controversial like today. There is no doubt that topic was one that was close to Rece, he was always saying last year Wisky could beat them.

I am unsure why he is so anti UK or antagonistic toward UK., he was walk on player at Bama, he knows the BBN profile and should be more a defender, he was staunchly against Jay Williams bringing up the Sypher case, he has made the case for many years about Duke/UNC, and today his position on Pitino.

There is no doubt he has made comments to rile the UK fans and some not subtle hits at the fanbase, Cal etc..

I think him living up there in Conn. so long has made him more a fan of East Coast schools etc..

Stephen A Smith and Cal are good buds. I respect Stephen A saying things like Cal should have more titles due to talent than be like Rece who wanted to zing Cal with topic and UK fanbase. He knew it would do this. He also knew the guys would take up for Rick. Stephen A is a fun dude, I respect him for saying it than hiding ala R. Davis who throws these topics out there. Come On. Major respect for Stephen A saying if Cal was in Rick's shoes than everyone would be calling for his head. Stephen A just says 4 FF's is great but need titles, Rece was trying to dig at UK and Cal but let the other guys do the digging. Chicken Sh&$

Rece Davis does a good job but for whatever reason he has found a dislike for BBN and Cal. He believes the narrative of the national folks that Self, Coach K, Roy, RP are all doing right way and Cal is some sleazy phony.
IMO

Interesting that when the question is raised on here about whether Cal should have won more titles that posters go absolutely crazy at the notion. They talk about Cal's success and berate the poster that asks "Could he have done more". Almost like its the most ridiculous notion in the history of sports to say that Cal should have more than one title. Yet ESPN poses the same question.

Point is, regardless of how you feel about it, its not at all a ridiculous notion that Cal should have won more titles at UK. Although many on here hate ESPN and see a bias (which I totally get), they are the premiere sports network. If they are posing the question, there must be something to it. Anyway...

maybe so, along with K, self, williams, dean, to name a few.
the "could have done more" camp wants to use this as validation that cal isn't as good as his peers ie the espn graphic today.
i know i'm not forced to read your posts. i guess i just feel sorry for that poor old dead horse you keep kickin.'

Problem I have is failure to mention of easy route Duke had last year and the 2010 year. I mean Gonzaga was their 2 seed. Look at UK 2 years ago, UL, Michigan, Wichita St.. That was a potential FF there.

Look at last year, We have to beat WVU, top 10 team, Notre Dame and Wisc. in semi's. Go back to the Brandon Knight team, Ohio St, UNC etc..

Duke and others have had some easy brackets. Not fair that this is not brought up at all. Flameouts and hot teams we have had bracketed with us. I mean no Mercer's.

I say Stephen A at least is man enough to say it, Rece wants to throw it out there, make it a discussion but let someone else do his dirty work. He threw up that Duke has won 2 in those Cal years.

Actually it should be asked why Pimptino hasn't won more titles than one at UL. And why he didn't win more than one at UK.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, did less with more than Dean Smith. He won 2 titles. Both with the other team making dumb plays to give the game away. Fred Brown throws the ball to Worthy when Georgetown has the ball in the last seconds and of course the famous "timeout" by Chris Webber.
He had Michael Jordan for THREE years and won one title.
Why no mention of Tom Izzo? Bill Self?

How many should Dean Smith have won? How about Rupp? Look at all the talent John Thompson had. What about him? Your view is just an agenda. You are a Pitino dangler so you always want to view Cal in a bad light.

So if you bring up those coaches obviously in an attempt to find a parallel to Coach Cal in terms of having similar talent but being unable to "do more", why don't you defend them just as you do Coach Cal?

I will gladly say that Dean Smith and John Thompson should have done more. Absolutely they should have done more and they deserve the questioning and the criticism. I say this about Cal and you go defending him. Well if Smith and Thompson are the same, why aren't you defending them? Next...

In Cut-NETS view, pitino shouldn't be expected to win titles because he's not a great recruiter.

I'm sure cut is feeling froggy. His team got a big win today and UK has a reasonable chance to lose.

Yep. Occasionally someone will compare Cal to Dean, and it's laughable. First, Dean didn't start over every year. Dean's kids stayed for the most part 4 years, always at least 3. That's how you have Worthy, Perkins and Jordan on the same team. Imagine if Cal had Randle, Towns and Murray together. Second, it took Dean 22 years to finally win a title, not 3......

As much as I liked hearing those guys defend Cal and call out the idiocy of saying "more" of a guy with this record.....if I'm going to criticize them for defending RP, I just have to acknowledge the bias and take the bad with the good. Those guys know these coaches, they spend time with them, have relationships with some of them. And if you want to be cynical, they rely on these coaches to provide access to their programs - which gets to Greenberg's and Bilas' livelihood.

In short, they're gonna take the coach's side 99% of the time.....

I bring up those coaches because they are HOFers. Cal does what he does with mostly freshman and with having to start over every year. Nobody does it as good as Cal. The fact that you harp on him for having only won one title so far, just shows your ignorance. You bash him because you are infatuated with Pitino who has crumbled before your very eyes. You cling to this pathetic view because you despise that Cal owns your hero and is a better coach than him. Only Rupp was more successful at UK.

Wish they would quit making Cal do what he does with just freshmen. I wish they would quit making Cal start over every year. Maybe thats what we should discuss; how its not fair that Cal is MADE to use mostly freshmen and MADE to start over every year.

It's not John Calipari's rules that allow freshmen to run to the NBA every year

Sure enough. "If this were John Calipari, I mean, we're looking for some kind of consistency with this kind of thing", which was followed up with the comment that Pitino hasn't been named in NCAA violations. That said, what was left out is Calipari wasn't named in an NCAA violation at any point in his career either, and this field of issue is consistent with Pitino. His 2nd sex scandal in the past decade.

People want to say "Oh, Rick didn't know about all of that going on, he shouldn't be cited for it", but all the same, those same people Calipari should have known about Rose allegedly cheating on an SAT (and that was unproven), and Calipari should have known about Camby taking money from an agent.
If a person is going to do that, that person can't use that same excuse of not knowing for Rick Pitino, when funds are leaving the program mysteriously. That person can't use that excuse of not knowing for Bill Self, when he had a player just last season that took money from an agent, and that player even admitted it.

Absurd double-standard.

But, Bilas was wrong. Rick was named by the NCAA, when he was an assistant at Hawaii, and they were put on probation

Pitino Cheated at Hawaii,Pitino Cheated for more than 4 years at Little Brothel by using Hookers to entice recruits and players, allowing Drug Abuse to go on,allowing theft and assaults to go on,allowing rapes and abortions, such a great coach and role model that Pitino is

I wish you had some common sense. I wish you would just leave the site and stop pretending to be a UK fan. I wish you were as intelligent as you think you are. Your statements go beyond dumb. You hate that Cal is more successful at UK than your hero ever was. The fact that you are a fan of Pitino after all that has transpired that last few years only reveals that you lack the same morals and ethics he does.
