Game thread for tonight’s games

Not game related, but was everyone pronouncing Thiero's name wrong the entire time he was here? The PA announcer and play by play guy kept saying Theero.

Actually the Kentucky game is everyone’s Super Bowl and we ought to be proud of that. I’ll never get why our fans wanna diminish that. It’s always been the case, even before cal started saying it
It was a joke!! Good grief. Let me spell it out for you...Cal telling Arkansas fans the same line in their games as if they were somehow on the level of Kentucky is what I would find humorous even if it is a huge game for that other team. Kentucky wasn't even the subject of the discussion that you brought into this. I don't think there is one fan who would ever think anything else about Kentucky Basketball being the biggest game on any team's schedule. Even with other blue bloods. As true as it is for Kentucky, I don't see Pope ever using it as an excuse for a bad game. Another post once again you take out of context to make yourself seem smarter than everyone else on the board. I've never really had many interactions with you as a poster here if any before these last couple of days. However, as a daily reader of the forum I have read enough of your interactions with others over the years to know what a manipulative poster you are. A fair amount of patronizing and condescension with many of your posts. Pretend to take a moral high ground and twist people's words over the slightest post to imply something else by them as if that gives you some stance to wag your finger at other UK fans and look down on others from your high horse.

The play by play guy also proclaimed Arky has 7-9 future NBA players on their squad (keep in mind they are only 9 deep). Thus, we cannot take anything they said seriously!
Their PA announcer in the arena was saying it too. And an Arkansas fan on reddit said Thiero recently said that how it was pronounced. We, and every other announcer, could have very well been wrong these last two years.

We just have very good players who play in a system designed for them. We run things analytically and are very unselfish. That will go a long way to being a very good team. We also have key guys who are great defenders.
Give me a team of players who fit their system and excel in it. I believe a cohesive team like this in College Basketball is far more apt to win come Tournament time.

Sucks to be them, they were on top of the world and then Jay Wright retires out of nowhere and now they suck.
Absolutely. Fast downward spiral from relevance for them. If they move on from Neptune, wonder where do they go from here? Maybe the alumni route with Kyle Lowry whenever he hangs it up for good? Who knows when that will be since he is still putting up solid numbers for a backup.

I've now seen Auburn,Tenn,Alabama ,Arky and Florida play.Bama is tough, Auburn looked really good tonight. Ten and Florida appear a bit down to me talent wise.

We’ve got Lipscomb coming up. Hope you didn’t jinx us.

They are picked to win the Asun conference.
Lenny Acuff is a great coach and Lipscomb is really good for small school program. The Pruitt kid comes from a family I know well and they really disciplined. They are team you don’t want to play in the tournament. Very similar than Belmont and better than Oakland and St Francis. I graduated from there in 76 and taught there so I follow them closely.

Arkansas YouTube channels certainly seeing an uptick in views and a busy comment section there compared to their usual videos. Clicked on the channel and saw where Cal sent Chuck Martin out to do the preview presser for the first official game.

I’m not real high on big Z. He’s so weak and slow. Inconsistent. He definitely didn’t make a very good sophomore leap
He was one of the main reasons they win last night. Blocking shots. Hit one of their only 3’s. He dominated the block. Granted they had no post player but when he roams around he’s good.

I think Cal holds him back just like he did a lot of players. If anything he would of been a good 3-4 year player.

The issue like always is you really can't stay more than 1 or 2 years before feeling like the coach is ready for you to move on.

Cal is trying to force him to be a post player. He’s so good as a 4 who helps on the block and blocks shots. Then he stretches the floor and can really shoot for a big guy. He would absolutely crush in our system. Easy lobs, wide open shots. He could help rebound and protect the rim a little. I honestly hope he gets tired of Cal, or wants to transfer again . If his pro stock never gets high enough to leave early I’d love to have him back as a junior or senior.
