Perfect example tonight, especially on the road & of course tee shirt night when we roll in. Hopefully this becomes a good lesson for them & we come out hungrier than our opponents for the rest of the season.

That is scrap. These games are more about our lack of preparation for the games then other teams playing above their skill levels. Maybe it would be helpful if we would recruit starters that can hit some freethrows and score in ways other than layups and dunks. Also, it would help if we were a just a little creative with our defense when necessary to take the opposing teams' offensive strategies from them as other teams do to us.

They were motivated by last year , we were motivated by nothing . We are young and don't understand what you have to give each night , everybody wants to beat you more than any team in their schedule . You will not get any nights to coast , teams aren't intimidated like last year . It's a good learning experience , it's not ice cream fellas .

First off, the team that played us tonight was not the team that lost to Monmouth. Second, if UCLA maintains this level of play, they will cause a lot of damage in the tourney (doubtful). Third, we get everybody's best. Everybody that has watched KY basketball half a season and understands basketball knows that.

Welcome to Kentucky Basketball. It's life in the fast lane. If you ain't wearing big boy britches, maybe you should stand aside.

I was at the game.

There was a lot of money put into beating us tonight. Everyone got a t-shirt. A thick, delta pro-weight one. Not the cheap, thinner than tissue paper t-shirts.

They also had a thing where if a player missed 2 free throws in a row in the 2nd half, everyone got a free hamburger. The crowd, therefore, was really loving on some Briscoe.

The thing that really sucks about the Super Bowl effect is that we never, ever, ever get a Super Bowl officiating crew. So when teams come up completely jacked up and the officiating allows that energy to just keep going like a freight train (come on, 1 foul on UCLA for most of the first half. really?), it can create problems for the team who hasn't quite grasped their playing in a Super Bowl every game.

That said, the officiating didn't do us in.

Our front court has no swag.

You're right, Cal knows nothing about defense. Only #1 in defense almost all of last season and this one. I would get tired of failing as badly as you do, but you keep at it. Gotta give you that.

Sorry silents he was rather spot on. UCLA was more prepared to play us than we were them. In fact that is generally the case most games, but fortunately we usually out talent the other teams and prevail. We have the same strategy regardless of opponent while teams game plan for us and when their game plans work you get what we saw last night especially with the other parameters involved (Lee out, ulis not at 100%, unfriendly whistle, etc).

I hope cal and Murray can get on the same page as well because we need Murray to be the take over the game player he can be. He got two good threes to go down early and didn't take many in the rhythm of the offense after that but came alive again in desperation time.

Defensively when you are not stopping the other team from scoring you have to change things up, we didn't, and you can't expect to win if adjustments are not going to be made (see UK football).

This is the way it is for a select handful of programs... T shirts to commemorate, a fan base pumped up far beyond their half-full, oft-quiet selves, an opposing player who suddenly looks like Jordan out there and drops a personal best or two... It is, in a way, SO annoying, because these sorts of teams have nothing to lose while our teams have this to lose in practically EVERY GAME. But at the same time, it's better to be the king than one of desperate plebs.

Yeah, I can guarantee they have a letdown very next game.

It's the only thing that sucks about being a UK basketball fan - everyone wants to beat us so badly they elevate their game to the next level when they play us.
