Would be an interesting lineup at times...if they jumped into a zone I am not sure anyone could get a shot off on this team...Cal has lots of options for next year.

Until/unless we see more from the players returning I think it will be difficult for any to claim a starting spot,if we get Bamba their work is really cut out for them.Gabriel's understanding of the game holds him back as much as anything,it remains to be seen how hard he works during the off season. He will be hard pressed to match Knox,Richards or Washington in that area,if Vanderbilt is healthy enough to practice I doubt any of them will out work him.

I think we're being a little hard on Gabriel. There is no doubt he stunk it up the last month and a half to two months of the season but before that he was starting and was really turning in some good efforts. His strength coming in last year was his energy. He ran the floor, scrambled for loose balls, got steals and deflections, and occassionally knocked down the open jumper out to 3 point land.

I think with his frail frame he just got worn out and beat up toward the end of the season. He was only 6'5 or 6'6 into his junior year of high school so he wasn't used to playing down low much at all, especially against guys that weighed 30+ lbs on him.

I think we will all be surprised at how much he and SKJ will be improved. Just knowing Cal's system and the normal operation of practices will help both of them. I won't say I think that one or both will start, that's not likely, one of them possibly, but they are going to play and be in the rotation for sure.

Did you see Gabriel attempt to play defense this year? Guy make Willis look like MKG at times.

Yeah, that year is behind us. Do you not expect him to get better. Believe it or not, the majority of FR struggle in their first yr of college. And guess what, you can get better from one yr to the next. Gabriel showed a ton of promise, lost confidence and in return lost out on his PT and trust from Cal.

Cal needs to stop telling PF's that they can play the 3. Luckily, that's not an issue next season because we have 3 legit SF's but having guys like Gabriel and Poythress try to play the 3 with no ball skills was detrimental to both the team and the players.

I know selling certain kids on that type of thing gets them to commit but it seems a lot of players these days can't acknowledge what position they should really be playing.

I still laugh at the idea of Bamba saying he's a 4. Dude, you're 7' tall with an 8'2 wingspan, you're playing down low no matter what people tell you.

That should be the case x2 with the guys coming in who haven't faced college competition yet instead of thinking they will automatically hit the ground running the same way some fans do every year with recruits before they are proven
