Gabby Petito Documentary

Poor girl was almost free. His family's behavior was so bizarre. I can't believe that he was ever able to make it out of the parents' house without anybody noticing.
That dude was weird and his mom was a psycho. Amazing documentary with all kinds of new footage. How do you think she died? I think he went through her phone and found that she was talking to her old boyfriend, it started a nuclear argument and he strangled her or something.

Yes, I was thinking that as well (re: talking to the ex-boyfriend). They were having obvious issues before she contacted the ex-boyfriend, and I think he realized that the relationship was going to end.

In his notebook, he mentioned that he thought he was being "merciful" because she had been injured and was in a lot of pain. If any of that is true, then I think he may have hit her and hurt her worse than he initially intended to. When he realized that he had gone too far, he probably panicked and then strangled her to death.

Him sticking around the area and taking photos of bones was very strange. He definitely thought he had a chance to get away with it when he was staging those texts and the money transfer about her never asking him for anything again.

I am sure he probably had anger issues. To be only 23 years old and have that hairline had to be hard to deal with. I mean even his classmates thought he was an undercover cop because he looked so much older. He probably had never had a girlfriend as hot as she was and the thought of losing her set him off.

The parents were the most bizarre part.

I’ve got kids. I understand loving them more than anything but I wouldn’t have aided my son in this. I would encourage him to do what is right. They clearly knew as he called them and spoke for an hour two days after he did it.

They knew she was gone and weren’t cooperative at all and immediately lawyered up. Like who does that? No sympathy for their parents who just lost their kid?

And you clearly knew where your son was going and you let the cops waste over a month and then you find his remains within the hour?

I too theorized that calling the ex BF could’ve set this unstable dude off.

ah had a typed out version of one guy I knew who was like Brian, dangerous and controlling and text was too long.

Anyway, no idea what makes someone like this so insane and insecure.

Totally on board with the old boyfriend trigger. Also possible that she told him she was through with him and he snapped. Possibly a combination. As controlling as he was, I can see the "if I can't have you, no one else will" psychosis raising its ugly head.

He admitted to doing it in his letters but still tried to play it off as a "mercy killing" because she was injured so badly she couldn't even tell him what was wrong? I guess it was to either make himself look like he wasn't a psychopathic killer or as hoping that he would get some kind of forgiveness from God, her family or something.

Its one of the two, for sure. Sounds like he hit her from behind with a rock or something like a gutless coward and then strangled her out of her misery. It said she died of blunt force trauma and strangulation.

Why in the world did he have to fly back to empty a storage holder in the middle of the trip? That was beyond strange. She could have bolted then with ease.

A lot of things will go unexplained but a few things are obvious. He wanted to control her and she was a free spirit. Bad combination but that doesn't usually lead to murder.

He really was uncomfortable on camera and she wanted to capture most everything. Another bad combination. I just really hate it for the family; such a heartache.

Watched it last night.

Yeah, I'm also of the belief she either told him it was time to go their separate ways, or he learned of Gabby talking to her ex and flipped out. He felt if he couldn't have her no one would, especially her ex.

His parents, good grief. Her "burn after reading" letter came across as someone who was/is unstable. I love my surviving son more than anything in this world, and would do anything to help him if he found himself in trouble, but I certainly would not help him cover up a murder.

Gabby was such a sweet person who loved life and lived it to the fullest, and she certainly deserved better than what she got from Brian. Taking his own life just further proved he was a coward.
