Just think we need a rim protector. Veesaar at 7-0 with beef and only a sophomore would seem to fill a void for us. Anybody else that would be a good rim protector with some skill like this guy?

Either our NIL is grossly overrated or Pope is an average recruiter at best. Something isn’t adding up. Most of the best players are already gone so I’m failing to see a massive upgrade in talent like we need to compete for titles.

Im telling you, I think its not really either.. its our organization. Mitch and company don't seem to be on the same page, and no one seems to be taking this NIL era seriously.
Pope DID get 10 players last minute for this season (and I do recognize that these guys got a great deal for UK to open up for them).. and we should have pretty good NIL money.. this feels like poor management.
I hope this is correct. I don't trust Mitch. Can he retire already?
If Pope and his team are mediocre recruiters or being stingy, that is not good. Again, the only way to know that is through consistency.
If Mitch is gatekeeping Pope's staff to spend money, he needs to be forced out
At some point, the organization needs to turn over and those at top need to be gone. We switched coaches and we still seem to be struggling to recruit.. regardless of what that may be, and it may be several things.. it means Mitch needs to go. If we don't put together a top15-ish team next year and trust compete for a Final4, id like to see him relieved of his job. Go get someone who is primed for this era.
What was the unc bid? What was ours? Facts please.

Why is this just a bidding war thing? Could it have some other factors? Maybe some guys are using UK just to get more $$ from others.
Some people believe it or not do not like UK. Some players are the same way. Gotta get over everything being a bidding war and we will not put out the cash.
Maybe again Pope has a number $ for each guy and is not willing to pay 1 penny more, no matter what us UK expert portal fans think he should pay.

Like others here, and I'm sure you feel the same, he doesn't seem to really be into the recruiting aspect. Cal was into the draft classes. Pope would prefer to be working on spreadsheets.
He looks like an Andrew Carr replacement, which is ok but we need talent upgrades across the board if we want to compete for titles again. Hope he is a lights out shooter because he’s not a superb athlete and he’s not outmuscling many SEC 4’s.
Has a higher ceiling than Carr. He was conference league player of the year as a Soph.
Seems to be more athletic than Carr and shoots & rebounds better also a better defender than Carr. Idk sounds like an upgrade to me.
I have a feeling we dont get Alvaro either. Boy I hope I'm wrong.
