These are Mark Sears freshman year stats- I wonder what they would have looked like playing our schedule in this years SEC? My point: I like our Freshman, and it's way too early to say that they don't have what it takes to compete.

The freshman are going to be sophomores next year and be st the end of the bench again. The new freshman and any older holdovers and the 3-4 portal studs will get most of the minutes. This years freshman don’t have good enough metrics to play a lot of minutes and compete for titles. Maybe if they become excellent 3 point shooters as juniors or seniors they could play more. But most transfer out before then.

No question, but Sears did average almost 9 points a game as a Freshmen. Our Freshmen aren't anywhere close to that. I do think they'll develop though, especially Noah and Chandler. Jury is still out on Perry gives his size and athleticism.

Perry and Noah can be good players. They need to transform their bodies. Loose the baby fat, add muscle, and get quicker. They may never be elite athletes but they can get a lot more athletic. There are plenty of good solid players that are not elite athletes

If the freshman are getting significant minutes next year then we will be in for a long season. I can see one or more transferring to a place to get more playing time

Do you really think none of our freshmen could have scored 9 ppg this year in the MAC?

I don’t . Not the Perry or Noah or Chandler that started the year .. those three that ended the year .. maybe ? But you can’t make Perry taller or much faster .

Sears played for Ohio in the MAC. He was going against Central Michigan, Buffalo, Ball State, Bowling Green, etc.

Perry, Noah and Chandler are playing against Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Florida. Top 10 teams in the country.
I don't think it's crazy to think they could average 9 points per game in the MAC against Ball State. I also think a freshman Sears would have had a much tougher time the SEC.

But he doesn't need to be taller or faster to average 9 points in the MAC.

He's getting cooked by a 5th year All American. Mark Sears was scoring 9 points a game vs Buffalo.

I think his size and speed are fine. He needs to get stronger. He needs to work on lateral agililty.

There was a time in Mark Sears life he had to improve physically. He did. He went from the MAC to the SEC.

Yeah, but he averaged 19 min a game. Give Perry an avg of 19 min a game and he averages 8 points. I’m not saying Perry will ever be as good as Mark Sears, just that that is not a fair comparison.
