“I don’t know why they would do that,” Curci said when informed of the stadium’s new name. “I don’t think they do that at Alabama or Georgia or Tennessee, do they? That’s their decision, I guess. I don’t know much about it. It just seems silly to me.”

Curci is correct: Kentucky is the first Southeastern Conference program to sell corporate naming rights to its football stadium.


“I can’t see them changing Rupp Arena,” he said. “That’s typical: Take care of basketball and the hell with football.”
