This is true. He took some 1st team reps at RT in the spring & some thought he would win the starting RT spot between now & fall camp.

There was nothing wrong with the coaching. Scheme was great. Play calling was solid/good but not elite. People forget about that win at the swamp without crod. Yes there was a major defensive contribution but same could be said for the year prior. Plus by all rights we absolutely had Ole Miss beat and awful player execution choked it away. We win that and we're probably a top 10 team.
I say that as someone who criticized the hire when it was made. I was impressed with everything but the execution.
The missing part was his inability to communicate to college players. He couldn't or wouldn't communicate a complex scheme in a way kids could understand. That's why execution was always just a tad off. Made matters worse that he followed a guy that was just dynamite in that very facet.
All that said, I doubt either had anything to do with Goodwin. People might remember when he committed I commented that his body build would make it very unlikely he'd ever be a major contributor at OT. Plus last year he was massively out of shape.

First, I acknowledge wanting to land as many 4 & 5 star players coming out of HS. Yet, there are now a few instances when it is better to catch a high potential player on the transfer rebound.
I don't have any idea what happened with Goodwin last year. The perception is that he was physically out of shape and his handlers weren't happy with his playing time. (Just my perception.)

This type of 5* player will always be unhappy with original team, yet has lots of potential upside for a future team.
The good news about the portal is that Stoops & Marrow seem to strike gold in the portal. I'd like to see if Goodwin approached things differently his 2nd time with the program. But, I don't expect it to happen. I will be surprised if doesn't go to UL.

There is issues there with him or his handlers. Leave it be and let him go somewhere else. Guess he thought he was better than what we had starting and I would guess he thinks he is better than what is in front of him down there. Instead of grinding it out and trying to earn his way he is expecting to be given his way. Leave it be.
The term handlers makes me want to think of all the old boxers who took beatings and ended up broke and homeless. Hope it isn't the same for all these kids who have handlers hoping to grab that golden ring. I am sure the plan was for 3 years, things were questioned, threats were made and carried out. Kid may not have wanted to leave but was told to leave.
UofL fans said Goodwin was at their practice yesterday just watching now actually practicing. Don’t know if that’s true. Wish his family well but he’s going to have to work much harder if he wants to succeed in college, even the ACC.

Stoops gave him a chance but couldn’t or wouldn’t do what was asked to stay. Just because a player is rated high you still have to make them live up to the standards that you require from the rest of your team. If you allow them to do whatever they want you will lose your football team.
You know the issue is that these kids that have the size or talent (natural ability) are treated like a meal ticket. What happens is they are disguised as AAU type of people. They head hunt for the right situation, they then spend time trying to get the parents to send the kids to prep schools (separating the kid from parent) and then work their way into being the Handler. Get their piece of the pie. Promise the world. If a kid gets hurt or does not develop they are dropped like a hot iron. It is a sad world we live in.
Can't agree with you more on this. All of us have to deal with "uncles" who are helping these kid get noticed who are shopping the kid around. I have no idea about Goodwin's situation. I just read his handlers weren't happy. Goodwin could have been very happy with things and was told to transfer by handlers.
An interesting decision announced today. The NCAA has denied the waiver request of two players who were transferring for a second time. Both players requested a waiver to allow them to play this year instead of sitting out a year.
In the case of these two, I expect they will be granted a waiver after appeal in that they transferred before the new waiver policy took effect. Nevertheless, it does look like waivers will come under increased scrutiny.

I just Google him and the latest article was mid July and him leaving UF. But it hinted he would be looking at Louisville because of location. I don't know where the seller schools are distance wise from Louisville he may be going that route
Hes from Louisville. They said no when he left UK. Now he is supposedly going to walk-on there. Nothing official but what i heard. He may not be enrolled this semester

That is probably not the best circumstance for him. Don think he has the self discipline to keep himself in any kind of shape without some serious supervision. Maybe it works out for him.
If he is there he will be wotking out at aspirations gym with the guy that got him in good shape. He needs structure for sure
His trainer, Vaughn, just put out a statement that Goodwin is taking the semester off to be with his mom who is moving into hospice. Prayers with him and his family.
Prayers for him and his whole family. I don’t see how it would hurt if he came back to UK. I don’t think he left on bad terms. Probably won’t happen.
