If one is not up to trusting yet, I think he has earned some benefit of the doubt at least.Last year, Pope recruited from the portal (name and ranking):
Garrison #20
Oweh #31
Robinson #33
Butler #44
Carr #67
Williams #84
Brea #87
Kriisa #122

...and you see how he developed and used them. Trust that Pope is going to get guys who fit our system and elevate our team.
I'd love to see in depth season stats on everyone ranked higher than Brea to see how they did this season.Last year, Pope recruited from the portal (name and ranking):

i was checking some of the rankings at least the 24/7 rankings of the portal last year. AJ Storr was ranked fourth lol..I'd love to see in depth season stats on everyone ranked higher than Brea to see how they did this season.
Cinnamon roll? Rock n roll? Rolls Royce? Is this a joke? I thought pope wants to play for a natty. Maybe year 3 noah might become more a player but even at his best noah isn’t a starter at UK. Sorry to crush is fanboy hearts. Noah could be a solid roll player at some point. There isn’t a spot for a tweener who is an ok shooter with limited athleticism.
Let’s hope he bursts out next year and realizes that potential. We need more athletes and studs. The fact he can shoot is nice.Dude has 1st rd potential. Crazy upside
Rebounding is not that goodOnly thing I want to know is how is his defense and rebounding? After last night bed crapping, these two things should be top on the list in terms of picking guys rn.
How is Bailey’s defense? Now let’s go get Wilkerson, a PG, a center and Bailey
yeah but he’s the type who crushes with their second unit, which if we get all the player we should, will be his role I would think.Who said PPG is the only thing that matters?
Competition matters. Efficiency matters. Experience level matters. Brea was SIGNIFICANTLY better in all of those areas.
Listen, I stand by it 1,000%. If this kid is starting for us next year, we are in trouble.
If he is our 7th or 8th man and a great plug & play piece, we're in great shape.
This kid wouldn't start for the likes of Bama, Florida, Duke, Auburn, etc. this year
How is Bailey’s defense?

I wouldn't go that far. Averaged 4.5 rebounds per game as a FRESHMAN. That is on par with 5th year SR. Carr and JR Oweh. They both averaged 4.7 per game.Rebounding is not that good
Defense is very solid in aac league
Otega and Carr played less minutes and in a more competitive leagueI wouldn't go that far. Averaged 4.5 rebounds per game as a FRESHMAN. That is on par with 5th year SR. Carr and JR Oweh. They both averaged 4.7 per game.
He had 10 rebounds in a game 2 times
8 rebounds in 4 games
7 in a game
6 in 4 games
5 in 4 games
He was only a freshman, his numbers will go up as he matures and gets stronger.
Some guys flopped. K St? Flopped big time.i was checking some of the rankings at least the 24/7 rankings of the portal last year. AJ Storr was ranked fourth lol..
LOL, Nope.Otega and Carr played less minutes and in a more competitive league
He played 30+ min and only had 4 in average
Have room to improve on rebounding
Not much full court pressing for a whole game in todays college game as in the past. No more teams like 90-91 UNLV, Loyola Marymount, or mid 90's Pitino coached UK teams. Loved the up and down pace back in the day. UNLV was a joy to watch with Stacey Augmon running the point of their press. 6-9 with Inspector Gadget arms was a terror on teams. Mix in Anderson Hunt and Greg Anthony trying to pick your pocket, then IF you got thru all of that, Grand Ma Ma Larry Johnson and George Ackles waiting on you, daring you to drive to the rim. You had Larry Johnson, Anderson Hunt, and Stacey Augmon all 3 average over 2 steals per game. As a team they averaged 11.5 steals per game. Their opponents averaged 19.7 turnovers per game, unreal. They also blocked 8 shots per game. Some guys flopped. K St? Flopped big time.
It's important to get the right fits! And character/attitudes matter a lot!
If Pope doesn't land top end PG who is quick/fast/explosive ball handler who can breakdown the defense when your offense gets stagnant, he might need to get numbers and go to a full court press that wears down the other teams.
We started out with a nonstop zoom action cutting moving pickn'roll pushing in transition ect offense.
So much that teams and even "duke" battled fatigue in the 2nd half. When the injuries hit that was reigned in a lot! You couple that with a press, and 2 deep that can play, but might not be elite, that could work. But I would rather get a dent, fill in the blank guy!
I loved that style of ball and miss it badlyNot much full court pressing for a whole game in todays college game as in the past. They scored 98 ppg (which was 4th in college basketball) and only gave up 71. 27 points average of margain. They held teams to 40% FG shooting and an unreal 16% from 3. Averaged 25 assist per game, best team in the history of college basketball IMHO.
I agree, we need big guards and dynamic forwards. We need size to make deep run in tournament
We need a bunch of 6-6 to 6-8 players in the future
This guy is a good start
