Former Tulane wing Kam Williams commits to Kentucky

Is this a joke? I thought pope wants to play for a natty. Maybe year 3 noah might become more a player but even at his best noah isn’t a starter at UK. Sorry to crush is fanboy hearts. Noah could be a solid roll player at some point. There isn’t a spot for a tweener who is an ok shooter with limited athleticism.
Yes, it was a joke. Travis Perry is the clear favorite to be the starting SF over Noah.

My way too early comparison is PJ Washington. Let's hope he turns out as good as PJ. Seems like a guy with size who can shoot, and guard multiple positions. He averages 1.4 steals and 1.1 blocks per game. That is eye popping! I bet there are less than 50 players in all of D1 that average more than 1 steal and 1 block per game.

Because he averaged 9PPG on a really bad Tulane team.

Not hard to put 2 and 2 together on that one. NBA drafts on potential, not off the production they can offer right now.

Unless he takes a MASSIVE leap this summer, we better hope he's a bench piece.
Right….points are all that matters 🤦🏻‍♂️

After watching our defense for most of this year, I’d be stoked if we had a 10ppg defensive stopper in the starting lineup

After watching some clips, how the hay did he only average 9 points for Tulane? What am I missing?
Shooting percentages are solid, 48/41/76. Defensive numbers are off the charts. Probably fewer than 50 D1 players average more than 1 steal and 1 block per game. PJ Washington, SGA and Anthony Davis are 3 of only about 10-15 NBA players to do that.

He looks more like a spot up shooter than a guy who creates for himself off the dribble in those clips, and sometimes those type of guys don’t have gaudy PPG averages if the offense isn’t being run with them as the focal point (Brea averaged 8 per game across his four years at Dayton for comparison). I still think he’ll be a great addition if his defense lives up to its reputation, because we’ve already seen that Pope is capable of getting looks for shooters.

Kam - "I had a solid year, but not the season I needed to be where I want to be just yet," Williams said. "Another year will help me develop my understanding of the game and put me in the best light possible in the eyes of NBA teams. It's not just about making the NBA, but sticking."

Smart young man.

Right, but averaging 10PPG in a league like the American against Rice, UTSA, FIU, etc., is very different than averaging 10PPG at Kentucky in the best basketball conference in America. Same with defending at that level.

Ansley Almonor averaged 16.5 PPG at Fairleigh Dickinson, did you think he would come here and average 16.5PPG as well? Man he should be starting!!

Look, I like the pickup, in fact I LOVE the pickup, but if we are counting on him being a starter next year, we are in trouble. Both things can be true.

He is only going to be a true sophomore….I would expect a significant improvement with a decent offseason. Seems like a 1-to-1 replacement for Brea.

Goodness guys.

Koby Brea was the best shooter in all of college basketball last year. He literally led the country, in a conference much tougher than the American and on an NCAA tournament team.

This kid is not Koby Brea guys. Reign it in people.
