Williams didn't make the two deep at nickel. He couldn't cover good enough for safety. MJD got hurt when he came back was behind and transferred back home. He would be starting now but he left 2 years ago. He played some early but his injury put him behind and just wanted to go home.Lost Dort this year to WISCONSIN? And MJD to Pitt? Then we lost JWilliams (projected to start at ome of the safety positions this year) when our head coach is a DB coach. I don't get it. We're thin at both CB and S positions, but 2 players transfer OUT...? W...T...H...
1. Dort played here a ton for 3 years....and had like 1 pick his entire career. At Wisconsin..Dort is not a starting CB. He's listed at top nickel back.....but he didn't make top 2 CB after three years at UK. Let's see how he plays out.Lost Dort this year to WISCONSIN? And MJD to Pitt? Love me some K Time.1. Dort played here a ton for 3 years....and had like 1 pick his entire career. At Wisconsin..Dort is not a starting CB. He's listed at top nickel back.....but he didn't make top 2 CB after three years at UK. Let's see how he plays out.
2. Devonshire....hated to see him go. But he got beat out by Kelvin Joseph two years ago along with Brandon Echols....that was the right move for that year...but it sort of pushed Devonshire out the door and he chose to move back home.
3. What is the issue with Joel Williams transferring? When was he ever projected to be starter? Jalen Geiger simply beat him out...I'd argue Jordan Lovett was passing him up as well at safety. And once Vito Tisdale is healthy again....that will be another safety ahead of him on depth chart. I get Joel was a 4* rated (by some) as HS player....but that didn't translate to college and you have to get past HS ratings.
4. Carrington Valentine and Keidron Smith are both better than Dort. I'm confident Dru Phillips will play better than what Dort would have as well. Not sure about that 4th CB.....but we'll see what Hairston does if he gets snaps.
5. Geiger and Ajian are the safeties. Lovett and transfer Zion Childress are the backup. We'll see how they play...THat spot will be effected by loss of Vito Tisdale. You always have Alex Afari looming and I'd expect him to grow more on the depth chart as he gets acclimated to college.
I think you're overstating issues.....Devonshire is the only player that would have made a potential impact in our secondary. The rest are guys we won't miss.
Hmmm, he was 6-8 yards off the WR. The INT was the result of the WR not catching a catchable ball, got both hands on it and failed to make a play he'd probably make 99 times out of 100. Devonshire showed speed, elusiveness and good instincts on his return, he is to be lauded for that. At UK he was beaten out by 2 CBs currently in the NFL. He has excellent closing speed but is smallish for a Stoops CB.That pick six wasn't exactly a result of great coverage.
Yeah, it was a great return, but he was badly beaten on the play. That play gave me a flashback to Badet's "drop" against UGA. On both plays the DB were beaten, but bailed out by WR who failed to make routine catches. If the WR from WVU catches or even just drops the football instead of deflecting it, WVU probably winds up in position to kick a game winning FG at the end. That pick six wasn't exactly a result of great coverage.

Did Neal Brown carry the UK curse with him to WVA.Yeah, it was a great return, but he was badly beaten on the play. That play gave me a flashback to Badet's "drop" against UGA.
