Kansas losing in the first round guarantees Kentucky will gain at least one game this year in All-Time wins. Take care of business tonight and it is a net two, with more opportunities. It’s six right now.

Well done Mark Pope and Cats. A whole new team assembled after other teams had a head start in the portal. Playing in the toughest conference, by metrics like KenPom, ever, and facing some tough OOC competition like Duke and Gonzaga.

Think back to early November. The Cats are about to tip off against Duke. Kansas is pre-season #1 and has just beaten Michigan State to temporarily cut the all-time wins lead to 4. It was already clear Kentucky was facing a brutal schedule. And no two Cats had ever played a challenging game together at that point. Kansas appeared to be cruising as #1, with pre-season player of the year candidate Hunter Dickinson.

It looked more likely that Kentucky would lose the claim to winningest college basketball program in history in 2025 than increase the lead,

Now keep winning Cats, and add some more.

I wish I could like this post more than once!

There were Ky fans wanting kansas to beat arkansas. I think some have Cal derangement syndrome and can’t see the big picture.

Trading one Kansas win for another flameout by Cal in the tourney isn't exactly not seeing the big picture. I wanted Cal to lose and it hurts that he didn't.

I'm glad to see KU finally have some down years. Larry Brown, Roy Williams and Bill Self have been their coaches the last 42 years. They have been very consistent while we had to weather probation and then the coach g fiasco and then the 9 win call fiasco and last 3 seasons of cal.

They have been gaining on us for 40 plus years. I'm ready to gain back and blow them away.

Mr. Village: (I'll avoid your full name out of politeness.)

Nothing would make me happier than for you to be correct.

But here is the link to the official NCAA records. If you scroll all the way to page 73, you will see that according to them, at the end of the last full season, 2023-2024, Kentucky was ahead by five wins. add one SO FAR for this year.

I’ll take a look, thanks….and I chose the villageidiot name, so it isn’t offensive btw lol

Anytime teams are chasing the leader in something, they will do anything to catch up to the leader. Like Kansas has always done claiming Helms titles when they are NOT NCAA titles, although they hang banners as if they were. Hard core college basketball fans know it's misleading, but the average fan might not. This is the way it looks in Allen fieldhouse, it makes them feel good, but they are NOT legitimate NCAA title banners.

Kentucky is second with 8 titles. UCLA is first with 11 titles.

At the moment, Kentucky is up eight games on Kansas, not six. If Kentucky wins tonight, it increases to nine. The confusion about the number appears to have come from a pro-Kansas twitter account that tracks all-time wins and used incorrect data. There was a debate over this about two weeks ago and we finally got it figured out. I’ll spare you the boring details —- Kentucky is +8 as of today.
The Lead is 6

Seems I was wrong. I based this off the Courier Journal, which I held in higher regard than a Twitter account. However, the NCAA would know. I am wrong and we are sadly +6 it seems.

If we included our 1933 and 1954 Helms titles, we would have ten titles, so Kansas does themselves no favors including those.

Kansas is really close in wins but despite them playing 135 more games we have them beat on winning percentage by a lot too. I remember when they passed for a short period of time a friend of mine who is a Kansas fan bragged about them winning more than us and I told him, they have also lost more games than us. It was short lived anyway and all in fun, but the majority of their fans really believe in those Helms titles when the rest of the country laughs about it.

This was the most important consideration for the Arkansas/Kansas game last night.

Arkansas fans are chesty and talking smack. They won't be on our radar in a couple of years. Kansas will always matter. The All-time wins lead will always matter. Now we're in a position to add another 2, 3, maybe even 4 wins. Another feather in the cap for Pope's 1st season.

Because of the all-time win race between us & Kansas, last night for the 1st time this season I was pulling strongly for Calipari & Arkansas.

Kansas is a far bigger threat to Kentucky than Calipari ever will be. You don’t slay the rats while there are hungry lions in the cage
Without a doubt. Allegiances were probably torn last night and that would be understandable. For over 22,600 days of my life, my alma mater has been the winnintest program in college basketball history. For only a short time in the early 90's and this decade did that change. For Mark Pope to increase that lead, ever so small as it may be, is remarkable considering the hand he was dealt. I don't want to see that change again...

As of today, Arkansas trails UK by 602 wins and has 269 more loses. One NCAA title to eight. 51 NCAA tournament wins to 132. They can pound their chests all they want and talk smack all they want.

When Cal leaves, he will come back to Rupp for his name to be retired in the rafters with four other coaches, more wins than any other school he will have coached, more NCAA tournament wins than any where else he coached, more All-Americans than anyplace else he coached. Historically, Arkansas will never be close to UK's radar, IMO and took our leftovers. It tears them up to know that.

GBB!

It was a win win for me, I just hated the idea that Cal finally wins a first round game the year he leaves.

Right! Cal did us a solid by beating Kansas. He may now go ahead and lose.
