Just thought I'd post this since we're all focused on Coach K's loss, Coach Cal being lost, etc....but to get to a topic some (know many are just too damn fed up to care) may have interest in, NCAA Live Recruiting Evaluation period begins next Friday and concludes Sunday. There are 2 live periods in April to go watch prospective '23 and beyond players in person at AAU events with other being at end of month-like 22-24th of April.

Also there is Nike Hoop Summit which for some reason I thought Cason Wallace was playing but now looks like he's been replaced by JJ Starling while the World Teams will have '22 Canadian, Leonard Miller, '23 UK recruiting targets Matas Bezulis and Mackenzie Mgbako along with a player that is getting rave reviews in 6'4 Tyrese Proctor an Aussie PG who is getting attention from Arizona/Duke and been rumored to be a reclassified guy. Haven't seen Nike Hoop Summit (which is my favorite of the All Star Circuit games) listed on TV this Friday but wonder if Kentucky will have a presence in Portland Friday for that event?

Aside from that, you figure we'll know a lot more what is going on with Kenny Payne's new staff seeing it's a live period and he'll want his staff on the road right away, and that could very well effect UK's recruiting (DJ Wagner specifically).

In addition on the recruiting calendar this year is an evaluation period for college coaches to be present at NBA Draft Combine. Thought that was interesting due to needing to recruit your own players or players who are there and thinking of withdrawing from Draft and returning to school but also getting to see them compete against their peers who are trying to get to NBA or at least get feedback on what they need to improve upon.

Sorry if this pisses everyone off, but figured it was basketball related.

Wallace was 100% announced as being on the team.
So I was correct about that? Where is he now? I just looked and he wasn't listed and saw JJ Starling added instead.

Now Starling isn't listed either. Just clicked on link and it's

Kyle Filipkowski
Dereck Lively
Dariq Whitehead
Grady Dick
Keyonte George
Nick Smith Jr
Kel'el Ware
Jarace Walker
Anthony Black
Amari Bailey
Dillon Mitchell
Cam Whitmore

World Team is:

Matas Buzelis who I believe I misspell his name every time I post it.
Mackenzie Mgbako
Tyrese Proctor
Adem Bona
Leonard Miller
Omaha Billew
London Johnson
Mike Sharvajamts
Jean Montero
Sidy Cissoko

Just a reminder. One of the four legs of the Nike EYBL circuit this year is in Louisville in May. Typically a majority of UK targets are Nike kids and you can go watch them there. Indy may be closer for some.

Session 1: April 8-10 (LIVE)
Location: Orlando, FL

Session 2: April 22-24 (LIVE)
Location: Indianapolis, IN

Session 3: May 27-30
Location: Louisville, KY

Session 4: July 7-10 (LIVE)
Location: Kansas City, MO

Interesting how the EYBL is now making the Peach Jam the last live evaluation Session instead of the early July date they used to when it was a 3 week evaluation month instead of 2 in July. That facility in Kansas City is outstanding. Really a nice place.

Never been to KC but imagine it would be a fun place to watch bb and eat good bbq.

Had a lot of tournaments there recently--most of our kids play in Midwest area and make the trip to Ames, Kansas City, Milwaukee, and Chicago, but Kansas City venue was top notch and really impressive. All those are great locations to have a tournament setting and been to Indianapolis EYBL Session before. Would like to see Louisville. Miss when Twin Cities hosted a session 4 to 5 straight years. The excitement and seeing coaches work during a live period is always interesting. You see why a lot of the same programs never win and why the ones who do, continue to. The staff members not watching games or watching games with players who will never consider their schools always seemed to be wasting time to me, but what do I know--just a fan.

I can see the sessions next weekend are at Disney's Wide World of Sports complex. Anyone know if they are open to the public?

Nike Hoop Summit was the game i always looked forward to because it is played like a real game and not an alley oop and no defense contest.

So UK has no players in it? Disappointing. Just proves recruiting is not going well imo.

Cason Wallace initially made the team. I know he was announced as a member of the team. Then JJ Starling replaced him, now he's off the roster. So I have no idea WTH is going on??

UK is recruiting Leonard Miller of the World team for a possible Spring signing target but as most have said--he's likely heading the Pro Route-but Travis Graf mentioned that he'll cut his list down to 4/5 options and set up visits-I'd expect UK to make that list.

Then you have '23 recruiting targets Matas Buzelis and Mackenzie Mgbako who will be playing.

I wish Kentucky would recruit this Tyrese Proctor kid from Australia.

Thanks. All good stuff. I liked watching seeing future UK kids in action in a real game set up.

Guys UK are linked to or recruiting is not the same imo. Lately, UK isn't getting those guys.

Are we looking at Tyrese Proctor? We are always late to the party especially with foreign kids. We need another point guard next year.

Duke has 3 that I see. Whitehead is a player too. Every game I watched of his he looked like the best player on the floor.

Duke has a really fine class which I told everyone would take place seeing how many talented guys were in this class and many schools would have their best class in years (see Arkansas--Alabama for starters)--only UK didn't get the class that we'd all hoped-I mean Sharpe/Wallace/Livingston is excellent (we need to see Sharpe stay for that to remain that way) but you are a Clark decision away from adding Nick Smith Jr too. UK would have to keep Oscar/Sharpe and add Leonard Miller or some high profile transfer guys to get the hype up.

Whitehead is a fine player. I don't like his jumper-it's very inconsistent but he does so many other things very well. Filipkowski is an excellent player. Lively we all know about--although I prefer Kel'el Ware over him personally. Where I really think Duke got a steal is Mark Mitchell. That kid wanted to go to either UK or Duke and is a typical Kentucky player in the old days of Cal recruiting and they just let him go to Duke without much of a fight. Mitchell does so many good things. Duke has signed a huge class too in preparation for their departing player--added to those 4 you have Schutt kid who is a shooter from IL, Big kid from Oak Hill as a developmental big, and figure Roach isn't going anywhere, one of their wings may return? Keels? I assume Moore Griffin,, Williams, and Banchero are definitely gone.

If Sharpe stayed and Oscar came back then I’d take that class all day. That’s top notch. The problem is that is so unlikely that I can’t even think about it. Miller would be a good pickup.

Thank you @ralphdaltonfan you’re the best when it comes to providing any information on here. We all really appreciate your contribution to RR!
Appreciate kind words but there are SEVERAL great posters here and don't want to leave any out but Smashcat does a fantastic job with links/updates on recruiting, Aike's seasonal updates on tournament projections, and rest of the fans here who may not always agree but have great takes. Thankful for everyone talking basketball especially those who disagree and have different takes. Learn a lot and enjoy the discussion

As usual, your posts are dreadful, not poignant, or funny
It’s laughable to me that these Cal suckers always complain about this board and being sick of the negativity but when a great poster starts a sensible thread that is actually talking about basketball , it’s a Cal sucker that is the first to go off subject and start another Cal war .

Hey Ralph is the expected “pro” route for Miller the NBA as an early international entrant or G League/OTE?

Meanwhile back at the UK ranch....besides Wallace, Livingston and Collins UK has no idea about their roster.

as if recruiting hasn't slipped enough over the last few years, the dismal finish this year + the Laker rumor means no recruits would show interest in UK

These posts are not allowed OP. Only posts about the UK program being in shambles and there being no hope.

Please delete, copy a post one of the clown wrote about a new coach and then just start a thread about that.
You seem to be in the running for head clown. You morons bitch about “negative posts” yet never fail to bring up the topic even when it doesn’t exist in a thread. Attention whore or just stupid?

It’s all they live for. It’s an illness.
