The Ansley leaving and Ed Reed talk has made this a possibility. Someone had mentioned after the Gran/Hinshaw hiring that Fla. was taken care of and now the Thomas hire should solidify that. There was mention by people who spoke as if Stoops may want to get in another fertile area. I think the New Orleans area and I-10 corridor from West Texas to Jacksonville may be the next route. I think that was part of N. Brown's approach due to Tech days and him hiring Maiord and B. D. Peveto.
Ed Reed is Miami player but he is a New Orleans product, he is bigger than Drew Brees in those local high schools.
Below are the schools that signed players in NO area this year.
Tulane, LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas-2, Nebraska, Kansas, Miss. St, Alabama, New Mexico ST, Texas signed 3, Southern Miss, South Carolina, Texas Tech, Arizona, Colorado, Fla. St. Ariz. St., Memphis,
LSU signed probably 10 or 12 from that area, some say Arkansas may have signed a LBer that may be as good as any.
This does not include La. Tech, La. Lafayette, McNeese St, Alcorn St. Kent St. Ark. Southern school nor does it reflect JC's that are in the ten-20 signees that will be players in 1-2 years. Clemson had a preferred walk on, LSU did as well.
In other words if you look at that list, UK can out recruit Arkansas or Ariz, Nebraska, South Carolina maybe A&M or even a Texas in New Orleans. Might not beat kids who are recruited by LSU, Bama, FSU.
These kids are not as home bodies ala Miss. Kids, they are more worldly, not scared to travel, some times families down there like to get their kids out of NO so families have a lot of influence.
Go for a big time LA/New Orleans contact would be great. All in for Ed Reed or someone like that.
IMO
