Football game or a commercial fest?

How long until Citizen's United has a buddy and then we get President PepsiCola? This trend of constant ads absolutely has to be stopped. Ads on roadways distracting drivers, ads flashing everywhere people walk making them feel like they need to buy useless garbage, and ads in our homes constantly. We get absolutely zero peace from ads. It's ridiculous. Society is f'd. Hell, they're using drones to put ads in our night skies.

Let's shorten the game with these new clock rules for "safety". The safety of our bank accounts because now we can have 15 more commercial breaks and the game lasts just as long.
Games still take over 3 hours to play but not because of the play. Gotta have that media timeout to line those pockets. I hope they at least revise some of the rule for next year. Between the clock and stoops style we better get to clicking we only going to have about 5 chances to score the entire game .

At this point, the NCAA pretty much have to revise something. The ads will start eating away at revenue as more fans watch replays on YouTube, pirate the streams, or just quit watching altogether. Worst case scenario, I could see enough schools hemorrhaging fans (and therefore revenue) that the sport crashes and burns.

I hate more commercials as much as the next guy but there's usually 10 other games on tv at the same time so as soon as they come on, I just switch to another game.

The TV commercials add about 40 minutes to the game. Also halftime is way too long at 20 minutes. The Band only performed for 7 minutes...halftime should be cut to 10 or 15 minutes. And what's up with our majorettes wearing skirts? Really???

Can you imagine going to games and setting through timeouts
One of many reasons I no longer go
Wife and I were at the game. It’s way too long for me. Granted I have a bad back, but it really gets the crowd out of the game imo. I sell all but three games per year. That’s about how many games I can sit through. At home, I tape the game and start watching around half time. I can almost get caught up with the live feed.

Last night's game wasn't any longer than its been for 30 years. Kicked off at 635 ended at 935. And that's shorter than it's been past 5 years or so when a game would inch to another 15 or 20 minutes easy.

Was saying the same.

Asholes shaved 7 plays per half off of the game, but the games run longer (3.5 hrs) than they used to and all that time saved is filled with commercials. Give us back our football already, you greedy bastages

One of the many reasons, if I can't attend, why I tape the game and then watch it. I just make sure I hear nothing about results before I watch.

Was out of town this weekend so I taped the game and watch it today when I got home. Being able to skip all those commercials is great even skipped 1/2 time. GREAT !

This is exactly right. Our first three games have averaged 3 hours and 9 minutes. That’s close to 15 minutes shorter than the average NCAA game length last year, so our games have been a bit shorter.

The number of commercials shown is also the same as last year, so I’m not sure what people are complaining about when comparing this season to last season.

I'm good with 3 hrs. Been 3 hrs for my whole life. I was at the Arkansas game that was 7 OTs and would do it all over again even knowing the length and outcome of the game. But I love football

I'm tired of the BS changes to the rules. Takes a lot of the strategy out of it that allows teams to make up ground through them.
