Florida O'Dome Renovation Article

This is all just posturing. They shot their wad buying out one football coach and getting another. They'll play this game for another year asking construction company to drop their price 25%, then claim if they can't do it right they won't do it at all.

Florida will be Arkansas circa mid 1990's , they will fade away into a marginal program but 20 years from now reference 2007 as if that is who they are . Who will be the next momentary challenger in conference ?

Couldn't fill it with Billy, sure as hell won't fill it now. That program is finito. Bye bye Florida fans!

The place has always been a mediocre setting that gets overpraised because they crammed the students down on the floor. My overriding memory of the place, which I have visited a half dozen times, is the smell of chlorine. For those who don't know, they have a massive pool complex in the same facility. I was there to watch a Saturday game once in January, and the swimming team was either having a meet or a very elaborate practice. Then after you skirt the pool area, you hit the gym, and the first thing you realize is that it is really small. They say it seats around 11,000, and I've been there for sold out games. It's really claustrophobic with that many people.
Vandy used to be the same way. Don't know if it is still that way!

I was there this fall for our come from behind win .. place was OUTSTANDING . Mediocre my ass , Place was a zoo that night , putting the students on the floor makes sense , doesn't make it over rated at all. Not everyone accepts the truth but it rocked better than most Rupp crowds that night.

Because UK was in the house. Visit a January game there when they are playing like Auburn. Unimpressive.

I find posts like this to be quite funny.

UK has never gone to an SEC venue without bring out the passion of their fans; however, I suggested that ManitouDan go to the Florida versus Jacksonville game and tell us how mediocre the zoo is in Gainesville. All three thousand will show up and make Rupp look bad!

Florida rarely sells out a game. Most of the sell outs are for Kentucky. The O'Dome is mediocre. The O'Dome is overrated.

Here are last year's stats, Bert. Includes attendance. BOLD is home game. 10,000 for Jax.
But you are right. only sell out was Kentucky .... bad year with a losing record.

I used to say the same thing about Athens, but they have made some strides in getting their fan base interested in basketball. Our team always brings out their worse fans still.

You can still ALWAYS get a face value price to Athens, but they at least had an 'official' couple of sellouts outside of Georgia.

Georgia will take Florida's place this year in giving us trouble.

Of course it shows far more folks that were there. Sorry dude but I have been to many games in the O'Dome when the announced attendance was more than double what really showed up.

Sorry, but you are dealing with a guy who has been having this same argument with my Gator buddies about Florida attendance. It sucks and the Gator Officials lie about the attendance with the official numbers.

I watch nearly all of the Gator games and it is embarrassing sometimes to see less than a half full house with an official attendance of 9 or 10 Thousand.

O Dome is a complete dump. Smells like crock sandal sweat and chlorine.

Was a dump, always will be a dump. F*%® Florida.

I apologize ..... I meant no offense. My intent was just to provide some info. And yes, we provide paid attendance
to the NCAA, which is very often well more than actual. I've read the NCAA requirements and I thought they said
paid attendance was OK, but you characterize it as a lie? Had no idea.

It is not a very effective lie; see the article linked

There is nothing "mediocre" about the O Dome. It is a great place to watch a game. I have been there several times and it has always been a great experience. The best thing about the facility is that as a Kentucky fan, it is not difficult to get in the building and, as many will know, there are no bad seats.
