Sorry to say it, but it’s an indictment on what we have allowed.

Three Championships
Four Final Game Appearances
Five Final Fours (7-2 in such games)
Nine Elite Eights
13-3 against top three seeds
Won the best conference ever

Not going to stop, especially with NIL.
It’s not a coincidence why traditional football powers are doing well in basketball. Kentucky is looking up at the Gators now. Sad state of affairs.

Hard to disagree with your post. And that makes me even angrier than I was at the end of the game. 😡

Unless you are saying they bought the refs and NCAA to manipulate the title for them, then their NIL didnt win them the title, they didnt have to pay a lot for any of their guys .
Houston turned over on its last four possessions; they deserved to lose, refs or no refs

Hard to argue this. Still like where we’re at. Florida caught lightning in a bottle with a Kemba-like run from Clayton. I don’t think they’re going away anytime soon but it’ll be interesting to see how Golden follows it up

I suspect they'll become the media darling. At least for the upcoming season. Golden might be able to turn them into a juggernaut, with the help of NIL. Makes me sick to my stomach.

I'd still rather be who we are than exchange histories. Even if they are the class of the century in the SEC so far. Im cool with watching them try to replace and move on next year. Same for teams like Tennessee and Alabama and Auburn. I don't think they stay riding as high and mighty as they have been in relation to Kentucky.

I would bet we're about to see a resurgence in Kentucky basketball that'll put them all in their place.

Quietly confident here.

It's enough the SEC teams have good coaches. that's good in general. The better the conference is, the better we generally are, and do. And in this era, I like where we are headed. Regardless of other's success, we've got a really good system and coach and we're already back in a big way, having moved on from CCC.

Gotta love it !

Go Big Blue !

Great timing on creating the thread, by the way. This is exactly what all Kentucky fans wanted to read tonight. You're a magical genius.

You're like the guy that points out that the lady you took on a first date, who had to use the bathroom, just returned from dropping a deuce.

My Son graduated from UF this past year, I went down to see him at the dorms and this one area was absolutely full of beautiful women and fancy sports cars, it was its own area, and I said "wow, what's going on over there" he was like, oh, that's the BB Team, LOL...sorry UK is not competing in that type of environment...

That’s what I was thinking. Slide on back to 1995 and make it a 30 year stretch and UK has 3 national championships and 2 runner-ups. And 7 Final Fours.
Yeah but that doesn’t change how long it has been. Not a great argument to be like “Well if you go back 30 years, we match what you did the last 19.”

They just picked up their third title and people are acting like the world is ending.

Could've been a LOT worse tonight. Could've been effing Duke. THAT would be something to wring hands over.
exactly. actually, it's fine the Gators won. Solidifies what we already know.

The SEC is more laoded than every other conference now, has the best coaches, and are dominant in the sport. We get back to the top of the SEC we are title contenders every year. Same for anyone in the conference now.

and generally, when the conference is good, so we are and we do well too.

Love where we are at and how things are shaping up.

and how great will the Gators be next year, joining all the other SEC teams really in need of a "reload" ? Knowing all of the coaches in the SEC are as good as they are, the level of competition will be as stout as ever next year, but not **quite* at the level of this year. We're positioned nicely already for next year vis a vis the rest of the conference.

We got a good feel for how Kentucky will fit into this puzzle of getting back to the mountaintop in the SEC as well as all of college basketball, this year, a transition year post CCC.

Another golden age may very well be right around the corner for us. One never knows, eh?

.... Power of positive thinking !

Keep the faith !

Go Big Blue !

It's just a lot of bitching and moaning.

They have ONE more FF that we do in the same stretch. And two of those titles came back to back under Donovan right as he was at his peak. They hadn't even made a Final Four since....checks almanac....2014. Donovan's last year.

Since he left, they had ONE EE appearance.

Golden got a good team together this year. Happens. But, the sky is falling in the Commonwealth.

Good Grief.

they have 5 sec championships and 5 final fours. we have 8 sec championships and 4 final fours.

I believe Pope will win a title at UK, it's destiny, JVC just absolutely killed us over the past decade, a lost era, the same for the end of Tubby's era, though he did win a title. We just can't afford to have another decade drought, I believe Pope has the desire, tenacity and coaching ability to get it done.

I mean, it’s championship night, and the team of interest was involved in said game.

He followed it up with 1999 just to make us look worse instead of 3 years sooner and putting us almost at the top above Florida.

Problem is, without an nba roster in 2011-15, we’re Tennessee.

Did anyone really think we were winning a title this year? A year after Cal leaving? A year when Pope had like a month to put together a roster?

Come on. Yes it sucks we haven't won in a while.

UCONN's women's team just won for the first time in 6 years after pretty much owning that portion of the sport.

We have the second most titles in history. Take out UCLA's insane runs under Wooden, we have the MOST Titles. The next closest is UNC. Who hasn't won in 8 years. After them is UCONN who just won back to back (which hadn't been done since Donovan in EIGHTEEN YEARS). And then Duke who hasn't won in a DECADE.

All that to say, IT'S HARD TO WIN THIS DAMN THING. It's the HARDEST Championship in SPORTS. PERIOD.

Yes, we need to get back to the FF. But goodness gracious, here we are acting like the program is on effing life support.

I agree, UK can't compete monetarily anymore, these programs are going for the jugular, big money is out there now, hell, even BYU is throwing around tens of millions.

This is no longer about the UK brand, program or tradition. It’s about dollar signs, and schools like Florida have more of it.

WTF does that even mean? That's such a dumb statement. TN has ZERO TITLES. ZERO FINAL FOURS. We could've been on probation for TWO DECADES and we would STILL be better than they ever dreamed of being.

Is everyone drunk tonight?
Kentucky would have zero FF’s since 1999 outside of that stretch. One title in 27 years.

And. Still. Be. Better. Than. UT's ZERO.

What if I had a supermodel wife and 1OM in the bank?

Luckily, we had talent and Cal hadn't gone stupid yet. Enjoy it instead of wishing for our untimely demise.

And without Billy Donovan what’s Florida? What an asinine statement…
What if the Bulls never had Jordan and Pippen? What if Coach K never went to Duke? What if Lincoln survived the assassination?

It's wild how we're putting our program on it's death bed tonight over a team getting it's THIRD title and FIRST in EIGHTEEN YEARS.

WTF is THIS statement? By all accounts we have PLENTY of NIL. We had Dent wrapped up with plenty of cash, but UCLA matched and he chose to stay close to home. That wasn't us getting outbid. Hell, the dude from SDSU took a PAY CUT to stay there. Again, we weren't outspent, he chose to stay home.

And you're INSANE if you think UF will pump more money into basketball than football.

The premise is so moronic I can’t believe I’m even still responding in this thread but I won’t even take away the whole Billy Donovan tenure, let’s just take away 2000-2007 and Florida is sitting at a whopping TWO final fours and ONE championship in the cherry picked timespan.

They won't pump more than FB, though they'll likely pump more in BB than we will, if not at least 20 other programs will.
