Florida Got Hosed

Don’t underestimate big names. St a John’s is a horrible matchup for Fla
I would have bet serious money that Kentucky’s region would have included two of the following: Duke, Louisville, St. John’s, BYU . . . .

We have Number 3 in a region with a Number 2 we beat twice without a point guard, and obviously, a talented No. 1 in Houston, but a Houston that does not drip with long-term tourney success.

Frankly, as for Kentucky, I could not have picked it better. The brackets allow Kentucky a potential Final Four without seeing Auburn, Bama, or UF from the SEC, and the strongest opponent we (might) face in the second weekend, we beat twice without a point guard.

Maybe all that means nothing . . . .

But, then, again . . . .

And Ricky P. has a pretty good tourney record, If I Recall Correctly . . . .

That guy is a true survivor . . . he even gets standing ovations, again, in Lexington, Kentucky!!!!

For historical context, US Grant and Abe Lincoln don’t get standing ovations in the South, yet!!

Did you know Grant’s middle initial isn’t S? It was written incorrectly on his nomination to West Point and…well, the rest is history.

I think they have a pretty easy run. Honestly, UConn might be the hardest game they will have.
there’s always an 8-9 matchup that will look scary for the 1 seed. fact is, florida is way, way better than uconn. they should breeze to the regional final.
I’m no Florida fan but……. I hope they beat UCONN by fifty .

I think UF's bracket is really tough considering how good Texas Tech (when fully healthy) and St. John's have played. That being said.....St. John's got a brutal 2nd Rd matchup if it's Kansas. KU is used to playing physical teams and 2 weeks ago they were right there with Houston on the Cougars home court and lost a close one late--Houston is a better team and has better shooting/shot makers than St. John's. I love Pitino but the Big East was significantly down overall this year-and think that will show IF UConn is able to get past Oklahoma. Diarra is beat to hell for UConn, they have no backup PG at all worth playing and can't defend the 3pt line or opposing guards. They rely on Tarris Reed Jr and UF has a litany of bigs to throw at them--I'd expect that game to be a rout for UF.

I love Florida's team and how they are playing. They have that look about them. Now maybe I'll be shocked as it's sports and odd things can happen but the biggest injustice in this year's Seeding was UF not being #1 if you were going to give it to the SEC-they've outplayed Auburn all season--record shows it and their matchup head to head without Alijah Martin @ Auburn was not nearly as close as the final score. They punked Auburn on their court with an elite starting player out. Auburn was a "darling" of the media all year and peaked in February. They've sucked for a Month now. I won't be shocked to see Louisville send them packing this upcoming weekend.

They got big names, for sure.

I imagine people think UCONN in the 2nd round is the hose job. But this isn't UCONN of the past 2 years. They've struggled vs the mighty big east.

UCONN/Oklahoma 2nd round--they've been smashing Alabama and Tennessee this weekend. They're going to cruise in the 2nd round.

Maryland potentially in the sweet 16. They're a good team. There's worse teams to face. I wouldn't think Florida is worried.

St. John's or Texas Tech are the best teams in the bottom half. They're good teams. It's still better than Alabama or Tennessee.

I’ll admit I haven’t seen any St. John’s games this year… But looking at their schedule they really haven’t beaten any monsters… Marquette is the only decent win on their schedule. Beating Creighton and UCONN is OK I guess but Auburn and the other SEC teams are on a different level. I guess we will find out.

Goes to show that the Conference Tournament means jack. I would have been ok with Duke being the #1 overall, but Florida should have been #2 at worst, Houston, then Auburn. How did Michigan get a #5, and Wisconsin get a #3? How did Louisville get a #8, but Clemson a #5? Bracket was set on Friday; should have thrown the Oklahoma game to stay healthy. Florida is going to win it, but Duke could beat them. Florida is an AWFUL matchup for Bama, whereas Bama is an AWFUL matchup for Kentucky. I think Kentucky would have played Florida closer than they did Bama.
