Fland down to 3

It was very close.
Close? One point? Two points?

In my entire life, I can only remember IU having one good team and a bunch of okay or a bad teams, they haven’t been relevant my whole life
No disrespect to you, brother, but are willing to acknowledge that Trilly Donovan was off on this one?

As a result, I hope you guys stop posting his every new thought like its gospel.

He was initially off but he posted that "Boogie" tweet last night foreshadowing him to UK. He got it right in the end.

Lots of people "get it right in the end."

The moral of the story is that folks should be more careful next time before they start quoting Trilly like he's the Greek god of recruiting info. I know Trilly's cult followers won't be, but I also won't let them forget that Trilly (and you guys) were way off on this one until yesterday.

I mean, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. I'm sure there was a lot of smoke for Fland to IU earlier and that's why his earlier tweets. But, he got clear intel that info changed and posted it a full day in advance of the official announcement to UK. In the end, doesn't mean he will always be right, but certainly worth paying attention to him. He's been right in predicting these things before they happen way more often than wrong.

I think that's fair.

What's up with your fans thinking UK outbid them for Boogie? Lol, UK boosters have mostly turned on Cal. No way in hell they're bidding for Boogie Fland.
Dont lump me those dumb summna bitches, bro. Not all of us(IU fans) think such.

Me on premie IU board..

"NIL had nadda to do with this. The fact that Cal has placed numerous guards in the league, was the main factor here..:

Them:---C'mon Borden, be smarter. You think Boogie thinks UK/Cal was his only way to the NBA...."

Me: Nope I dont think Boogie feels his only route was UK. But I do feel he feels its his best route for staying in the league---longevity...And that second contract..."

No responses yet..

None taken, you try to have respectable conversations so never any disrespect from your end or mine towards you. But it turns out that was him trolling. He was correct in the end, but I will admit that his stuff shouldn’t be taken as the be all say all. I still will follow but I will only look at his towards the end of the recruitments that’s when he is usually correct

That Purdue team outside of edey doesn’t look great.
Can't emphasize enough how much I think their guards suck. What they struggle with won't change due to experience/age, they are slow and easily rattled. I've got them as the most overrated team in the Country going into '24.

For all the disgust going on at Kentucky and some fans love to praise Painter as a possible replacement, he too lost to St. Peter's and then as a #1 to FDU. So his last 2 NCAA losses are to a 15 and 16 seed. Why? His guards are that level. When Purdue should've made the Final Four, they had Carson Edwards--and he's a world difference from the 2 stiffs they play now.

Agree, every time I watched them last year I wasn’t impressed, they look like a slow big ten team. Those guards will get eaten alive by athletic backcourts. Purdue and creighton are 2 teams I don’t see the hype with

I can’t imagine anyone with a functioning brain would want Painter here.

Glad I’m wrong, I will own me being stupid here. I believe the IU fan messaging me on Twitter, I won’t make that mistake again
Nah you had every reason to be worried, IU news was coming out but I think that was due to McKneely announcing and saying he was calling Boogie. 24/7 hadn’t logged a single pick as of Thursday so I knew nobody was certain. I just knew how long we have recruited him and Cal rarely misses on a guard he really wants. I just had a feeling that turned out right this time. Also even the day IU thought they had him Rob Cassidy had a video that he was confident UK led still so I felt like only a couple really knew where he was leaning.

I agree, for the record I think Painter is a good coach who could really thrive with a lot of legit talent. You are correct that he chokes constantly in the tournamnt and that’s usually due to weaker guards. His best teams had legit NBA wings.

The one messaging me was saying boogie told the staff he was coming to IU on Tuesday, in hindsight I should of called his bs out

Very hard....Had this been KU, Duke---anyone BUT UK, IU gets him. But Cal and 813 guards in the NBA is tough to beat. Just happy Woody got us at the table.
I actually think Woodson is a good coach and it’s a testament that he’s gotten IU involved with elite talent quickly. I won’t give you grief because you are a good IU fan that posts here regularly and aren’t salty like the rest of em.

Turns out he did call the staff but to inform him of the decision that day, that was pushed back till the 20th. So basically that poster thought it meant he committed lol. He didn’t inform the staff of the pick till late last night.

To be fair to Painter, that's due to being at Purdue. That's their history. Lee Rose took them to a Final Four in '80, but Keady/Painter get to an Elite 8 every once in a while and more often than not get beat by less heralded teams who have quick guards and can make shots.

Painter got raw deal of a logical decision in '19 Elite 8 with UVA executing the miracle play late--but one thing that is maddening about Painter--if any team pressures him full court--he's not worked on it and addressed it at all. It doesn't have to be from a team of elite athletes either--just pressure him in a simple AAU level manner and they struggle and he burns timeouts and then blames the athletes. When something is effective over multiple years and with your team having different personnel, it's not a player problem, it's a coach failing to work on strategy.

I agree that Virginia game was the luckiest game I’ve ever seen. Maybe more than 92 Duke.

They are real salty, yesterday they were convinced they had this elite class coming in and Boogie was the greatest. Now it’s turned into, big blue checkbook/didn’t want him/not that enthusiastic about him in the first place.
Still could be a nice class with Queen. For me I am just happy Woody has IU at the table with these kids.

Painter is an absolutel class act. And a really good CBB coach. He just doesnt get that elite talent/speed, etc---and that kills his teams year after year, after year. Look at the DD seeds he has lost too---Teams with speed, who trap and speed you up. Its not a coincindence. His teams have always struggled with pressure. First meeting vs IU, Purdue was rolling through the B10. Woody applied heat to their guards---and it gave them fits.
