* If we get that level of special teams play game in and game out, that's a real plus for the Cats.
* As a team, the Cats have some good upside this year if ... if ... they can find a rhythm on the offensive side of the ball and can be more effective against the short passing game.
* I think our pass coverage is still a question mark to be answered. Historically, Brad White's defense plays to keep the ball in front of them and not give up big explosive plays. While that has been effective for the Cats, the Cats could be a little vulnerable to the short/surgical passing game. Something to keep an eye on moving forward.
* The DL is deep and talented. We have some dudes on the DL that "should" be effective against the run. While we did have a number of pressures on the QB against Ball State and TFLs as a team, I don't know if we necessarily have the makeup on the DL to rack up a bunch of sacks, though we "should" be able to collapse the pocket and put pressure on the QB.
* We need our WR's to run better routes. Need quicker cuts and still must be stronger off the ball. We have to develop an effective and consistently reliable short passing game which we should be able to do with our TEs/RBs, and WRs.
* More on the offense, given the slightly reduced number of offensive possessions that we are seeing this year across college football - I would like to see the Cats' pace/tempo/urgency to be quicker. We snapped the ball with less than a handful of seconds on the play clock it seemed most of the time ... need to do a better job of getting play calls in, lined up, and getting the play off ... thus the need to develop that short passing game to go with our running attack. I think Leary's strengths would be more effective the quicker he is required to make a decision.
The schedule lines up for the Cats the first 5 weeks ... thus the basis for the urgency to take advantage of these opportunities before we get to the back half of the season when things get a lot more challenging.
