Feeling #9

I tell ya, that Duke title in 2015 is way overblown and inflated. They didn't play a single team that had a chance to beat them until the game with Wisconsin in the title game. That title was gift wrapped.

Agreed kev69, Coach K won a title 2 years ago. Can the game pass you by that quickly?

I don't mean that he's wasted now and is no good, but I believe he's in his "Jordan-with-the-Wizards" era. Still good, but not dominating the game anymore. Just my 2 cents.

Best team doesn't always win, and our roster isn't even set yet. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

True, but college hoops will be abysmal next year. Can you think of a team that will have anywhere close to the same amount of talent as UK if Cal lands Bamba? This isn't 2015, when there were three or four legit teams.

Good to see so many feel optimistic! My theory is to keep knocking on the door and our turn will come. My concern is if with all our length will be be able to play man to man defense?

Why wouldn't Cal be able to play man to man? This isn't the NBA, where a guy like Vanderbilt would have to chase Iverson all over the court. UNC used Pinson and Jackson last year to chase faster guys, and their length made up the difference. I look for UK's length to provide them a similar defensive counter to opposing teams.

As someone else pointed out the tournament is single elimination. One loss and your out. Cal's had a few UK teams that would have breezed through a series but when it's one loss and go home it's just sooooo hard. Any team can have an off night and it's over. But we've got a good chance so hopefully we can do it.

Bamba gives UK the rim protection to deflate the hopes of about 90% of potential opponents. Getting him is obviously huge if Cal can do it.

Cal will also have matchup advantages everywhere on the court. Knox, Washington, (hopefully Johnson), Vanderbilt. These guys can simply shoot over zones or over their defenders the way Jackson did with UNC last season. Having an elite point guard set up the offense will only capitalize on UK's talent gap.

If Bamba comes I think this will be a perfect team, I want him because I'm a lil worried as to who will play C when Richards needs to come out, or if he gets into foul trouble which happens with Freshman early in the season, as we saw with Bam last season, SKJ could maybe play that role if Bamba doesn't come to UK.

I see Bamba starting at PF just my opinion, If he ends up at UK, I been thinking about the mins and how it might work out, This is just my take on the situation, I'm going to put Knox at the 2 since that seems to be the rumor, But I could see P.J. at the 2 and Knox at the 3, But I trust Cal to do whats best, and the fact that he knows more about Basketball then I'll even know about any subject in my lifetime !!

I know I cut Gab's mins down which might end up being wrong because he is the more experienced player, and he might come in much improved, and get way more mins than I listed, but Mo Bamba is a great player and I think he plays PF, And I think Cal will play the best players, that's just my opinion, I'd like to have Diallo back or bring in Cam but, it will be really hard to keep everyone happy with the amount of mins each player gets per game, that's a good problem to have tho, and I'll take either player or both in a heart beat and be very happy about it !!

PG Q. Green 28 mins ...S. Alexander 12 mins
SG K. Knox 28 mins .... P.J. Washington 8 mins ... S. A, Baker, or maybe J.V. 4 mins
SF J. Vanderbilt 22 mins .... P.J. Washington 18 mins
PF M. Bamba 22 mins... W. Gab 14 mins... J. Vanderbilt 4 mins
C N. Richards 29 mins..... Bamba 6 mins... SKJ 5 mins

Welcome to the board.

I like your post but I have to disagree with one thing. Washington won't be playing any shooting guard. He's more of a stronger Trey Lyles, a future stretch 4 in the NBA who will make his living with rebounding, mid-range jumpers, and defense.

Vanderbilt will likely play some 2 (if Diallo leaves and UK doesn't land Johnson) because he has the athleticism/quickness to defense perimeter players.

i don't see another team next year being as good as the cats. I'm not good at explaining myself but I feel like uk has the deepest team next year. Combine that with the Cal (the best coach. K is old. Game has passed him) and I don't think kentucky can lose in march. I know a lot of you will say this is too early or I'm stupid, but I've just got a hunch... cats 2018. Also, it's may, what else should I write about?

If UK gets Bamba then you could be right. Keep Diallo and UK will have so much depth.
Think Bamba, Green, Knox, Diallo and Vanderbilt and back ups of Gabriel, PJ, Richards, Shai, Baker and SKJ.
That is nine 5 stars and two 4 stars

Honestly, most of us are optimistic because of the number of highly ranked recruits coming in.
But, with zero quality returning production, it's going to be a crap shoot.

It could all work out, but I wouldn't be predicting a title at this point.
