Trinity buys some very nice players for football and basketball.. no surprise.
Doubt they bought this kid and to be fair you have no proof. Many of these kids come up thru the parochial system and was probably going to Trinty by choice. FYI please...back in the early 60s my brother was an excellent 3 sports star in JHS. Well, a certain PUBLIC school came to his home, whined and dined him and bought him a new wardrobe of clothes. He went to that school and played 3 sports, but only excelled at one. I know of several others back then who got the same treatment. So, this type of thing has been around a long time.
Just wanted to give folks a heads up about this young man and that he must be very, very good to be playing this early at Trinity.

All the decent football teams these days are relying heavily on transfers.

Those private schools don't have quite the recruiting advantage they used to.
Respectfully and I mean this in all sincerity I disagree whole heartedly. They DO have an advantage in every conceivable way. One Catholic school in Louisville was given a 10 million dollar endowment to recruit more black athletes. There are scholarships given out just like college and wealthy boosters NIL deals that Public schools cannot match. The alumni`s at these institutions are larger and more faithful than any public school can offer. Their coaches are paid VERY handsomely compared to Publics. They have a whole team designated to recruiting the best athletes from the state and border southern Indiana. They also have alumni that will offer jobs in their companies for a national recruit. Walk into Trinity`s locker room and its like a small D-1 college locker room. Walk onto their field and its like a college stadium. These schools have advantages that few in the state have. It is way deeper than anything I can put on here... but they DO have an advantage. Any time a state school or even a Male High beats one of them the whole state should be cheering. I am not a hater, and I get it money buys alot of good things but Trinity , X and I would even put Cal in this category MOST public schools cannot compete with what they offer. On top of that the have great academics too.

I never was a football player, I played bball and baseball and ran track but I have been to Trinity stadium many times and it would be VERY hard to be a 16 year old kid and turn that atmosphere down.

You have no idea how the city of Louisville works

1. Male can recruit a bit as a traditional school allows them to get kids out of an area
2. St X and Trinity just supplement their roster picking off best middle school kids for skill spots and giving them a scholarship. So if they take 4 kids a year that would go to competition across Jefferson county snd rhis occur over four year a olayer is in high school….that is quite a coup for them and a total loss for every school they play
3. Schools like Ballard Eastern etc have no shot

Why Ky allows private and public schools to play in same classification is beyond me. Many other states forced private and public to differ classifications..that’s how you end up with all but 1-2 titles over 20 years at st x or trinity

I’m late to this. A freshmen is the starting QB for Trinity and they’re in the state title game?

The advantage is that we, alumni, care about the school and donate money. What you said about scholarships to recruit black athletes is total garbage. They like every private school in the county have tuition assistance. If you wish to be HONEST....the TAX PAYERS give Free Tuition at all of the Public Scools. So the G-schools have FREE over 15K per year right out of the block.

As for the tuition aid that they all offer it is needs based and BLIND and done by a committee in Chicago or elsewhere.

By the way....the QB frosh is WHITE. So just get that out of the way.

Do we have better facilities? Yes. But X has much better and that doesnt stop Trinity. CSAA football feeder system and 1300 boys is the advantage. Plus we do have better coaching.

You dont know how things work. I was a travel coach for the top program in KY of that sport. Every "higer level" Pub School in that sport recruited our kids. I had cath school kids who were recruited to Male and Manual that didnt come through their traditional route. The High Schools that dont care have programs that stink. There is NO reason that for example Eastern HS totall sucks in FB. Its because their admin does not care. The BIG problem is where their students live and how they would need assistance to get home from practice every day. The athletes are there on campus but they do not participate. This is a big reason why many pubs in Jeff Cty cannot compete.

You are wrong in a lot of this. Let it go.

Yep. Public schools have been recruiting for years. Parents and kids will find a way around things and I’m all for it. Kids should be able to go where they want and I don’t think there’s anything controversial about it as long as the kid is an actual student.

How many times has a private school won the state’s basketball title? Like four times?

And when Trinity did it in 2012 they had the Mr. Ky basketball who was an 8yr catholic grade school kid. So the recruiting BS there was even nonsense.

I played at Male high school and played St X every year….and trinity once. I am very familiar wjtb how this works in Louisville

The attached picture is of Trinity football team. So you see all the black kids correct? Black people in Louisville aren’t catholic….nearly all of these kids are recruited to Trinity’s school and blended in with the feeder school to trinity…which are almost all white kids below high school

So you cherry pick the best kids below high school and thusly take them out of their feeder schools…you strength trinity and weaken competition…this is how you win 18 out of. 20 state championships.

Ra ra ra…it’s called recruiting…not some elite coaching happening every year

They are well coached and the school, students, parents and alumni care.

Whiny to think that they have won a state record total of 28 state titles from 1968 by recruiting.

They just out coach and out work other teams.

Male doesn’t recruit? Cmon man.

Sour grapes. Male had their chance this year.

I’m not trying to state trinity cheating….these are the rules Khsaa allows ..so be it

But I’m not blown away by trinity and st X winning like 95% of state titles by recruiting the top kids from other districts….most of which would not know a catholic from a Hindu…..and calling it greatness. I wouldn’t claim God in my mission and then openly recrut kids with zero spiritual bases for the sole purpose to win football games…and then state God matters …that feels sort of hypocritical to me

Most other states don’t allow private and public schools in the same classification for just this reason. Almost all public schools don’t have the ability to recruit like this and it creates imbalances

TN has a pretty good model. I guess it's because there aren't very many private schools playing football in ky at this point. The number of private schools everywhere is growing because people are fed up with school systems and there are many popping up in ky but all pretty new and smallish. The best you can do is maybe 2 small classes of privates and maybe that prevents it although it doesn't really bother me if it’s their inconvenience. Part of choosing to go to a private school might be that you have to travel a little further for district games but who cares.

They also have some rules transferring schools in hs in TN that requires a full bona fide move of all family even between private and public. But you can't do the thing where one parent rents an apartment somewhere...it requires a full move of both parents even if it's to private.

As far as recruiting...I mean that has gone on forever...it's just that we live in a time where people and kids are more willing to aggregate in places for sports so it happens even more. Take Boyle Co....their best player is from Garrard Co and have a few kids that came from danville that are big pieces. Back in the early 90's it was the opposite...players in the area gathered at Danville because it was the program. And it's not even a 'recruiting' thing it's just kids going where they perceive opportunities. Belfry has had kids out of WV in the past. Now, if there is money or tuition being paid that is a problem. But now there is hs NIL so no different from college there is a way to get around it pretty easily now.

Shoot...anybody that played basketball against Dave Fraley Pulaski co basketball teams there was a pretty good shot they had players on the team living with a 'guardian', these weird foreign transfer programs where a family housed a kid from Scandanavia, or ask Reggie Hanson about it. He talks out loud about his situation if you ask him. He didn't belong at Pulaski. Again, this isn't new and it isn't just private although the money and shiny toys some private schools have are hard to turn down if you can get that type of environment and education and circumvent tuition.

Valid point ther it isn’t just trinity snd st X doing recruiting.

Scott county basketball was notorious to get auto plant jobs to get family to Scott county

So I should be fair…it isn’t just private schools doing it. But to the point….this has been a decades old bulljive and I’m not blown away with their greatness. They work the system to their advantage is how you win this many state titles between two schools

Doubt they buy them but who knows? I played catholic school football in grade school. After games there were coaches from X, Trinity, DeSales and Bishop David (now Holy Cross), basically recruiting kids to come to their schools. It was rather crazy looking back at it.

Dude. Everyone in my family on several sides have gone to Trinity since the 70s. NONE of us were Catholics. There were even Jewish kids.

Are you saying black parents are too poor or dont care enough to get their kid a great education or to put them into the states top football program. The one that plays a more regional schedule. FREE pub education is a recruiting tool.

I forgot to ask. You from Male. Do you want to discuss Bob Redman who recruited some pretty famous D1 players out of Bowling Green.
