Farrell article mentioning Barion and NIL

3rd point is about Barion
Somebody posted yesterday that Brown/Walker are receiving NIL money and are very happy with it. How this person knew that I have no idea. This smacks of going back to the era of recruiting "experts" telling players they are "too good to be going to Kentucky."

If those rumors about Wisky's RB are true, that's messed up. I feel like they probably are, Stoops himself was talking about crazy it is with free agency every offseason. This stuff is just stupid. NCAA seems to be handcuffed at this point. Stoops brought up the question back to the media, name one other sports league that has 85 free agents every offseason.

I agree but I would also suggest schools had it too easy for too long only have scholarships be year-to-year. They should have been more charitable and maybe that would have preempted the annual churn.

Walker tweeted this morning or last night that he loved bbn. I'm guessing it's related

Never heard of this guy before this article, but his About page makes him sound legitimate. The only Mike Farrell I knew was the actor that played BJ on M*A*S*H... But I've thought this about Barion Brown since I saw his first game. I literally thought "How are they gonna keep this guy next season?"

Go back to Stoops PC, I guess it was Mon. He addresses the impending Open Season for college football players. He's re-recruiting his own players, tampering is rampant and since there's no oversight it's all "legal." He also made it clear UK will be a player on the whole portal thing especially now that a NIL program is in place. It's open free agency and it all begins in Dec, gonna be a wild ride.

Tampering? Hell he all but said half the Tennessee team was telling him to come there and get rich. He’s barely making milk money up here with the Quaker calling the shots. Won’t be the only one.

I get that, especially at schools like Bama. Most schools it doesn't seem, at least to my foggy memory, were cycling guys out on a regular basis. Just a crazy set-up right now in college sports. If a team is missing one or two pieces to make a run, just go buy them off of another team. One extreme to the other in college sports now.

The answer would’ve been win 10 plus games like we 100% should’ve, scoring 40 points a game with an awesome offense and have a a couple QBs already interested and fighting to come here next season. I love my Cats but I’m disappointed bad with this season. I’ll still be ready to watch and win the East next season though. Lol. I really hope we do whatever we can to keep our future stars but if they leave I’ll wish them well and move on. I’d give almost anything I have to have a contender for the playoff every year football program.

The NCAA has cuffed themselves and hired a dominatrix at this point. They don't give a F that they've ruined the college game by not setting this up proactively ahead of time. Greedy fks need to be sued, fired, and a new association formed.

I agree with 100% of what you said, but who's gonna create the new association? The same powerful schools getting away with all the dirty dealings right now.

NIL isn’t the issue with Barrion

How he’s used is far more important to his family. He didn’t come here to block and catch screen passes. He and his family (and his coaches at Pearl Cohn) know he has NFL potential.

No doubt he has the potential. Blocking, clear outs, rubs, turning catches upfield are part of the position and being a good teammate. Other guys do it for him. He just needs to reciprocate.

Ya it isn't as fun as getting the ball, but it's a critical part of team success and more importantly being a good teammate

Exactly.

This is probably a non-public reason why the big names are pushing for super-conferences. If ALL of the smaller programs got together and insisted on reworking the NCAA, they could effect some major changes for the better, but they aren't coming together.

In the meantime the big $ schools are trying to separate so that the smaller schools couldn't have any effect anyway.

This article came out before UK announced its collective so its pretty irrelevant at this point.
