Fake injuries

Are absolutely hurting the fan experience. Hopefully, the SEC does something about it this offseason.
I hope you are not referring to any of the injuries our players suffered last night brought on by the dirty play of the UT Vols.

And the nasty chanting by the Vol fans should result in the SEC office punishing UT to the fullest extent possible.

Pure trash.

There were PLENTY of fake injuries from UK last night. We are known to fake injuries after PATs. Doesn’t matter which team is doing it, needs to stop. Not sure what the answer will be? But just saying you’ll fine the teams, isn’t going to be enough.

What was the nasty chanting

Talk about fan experience, I want those large towel on long poles shields banned from the sidelines. How can fans behind them see anything?

What plays were dirty that hurt our players? That was hard nosed defense by both teams but i did not see any dirty plays. i saw nasty mouthing by both teams. #9 from TN is as mouthy as our B. Brown. I guess running a players mouth has become part of the game that I wish would get more flags until it is stopped. They need to make a good play and shut up. That is more imposing than jawing all night. Just my simple opinion. Just because we do not like or even hate the team we are playing does not mean they are dirty if a KY player gets hurt. That is just part of the game.

What about taking a cheap shot to the head of the QB on the sidelines!

I agree whole hearty that should have been 15 yarder. We see more that should be called against our opponent than we see against the Wildcats, it is just human nature. I saw several plays last night that TN could have gotten a flag and couple that could have been called against us. Couple of blantant holds against #27 that was not called right in front of the official. D. Walker was held multiply time that was not called. I think if a hold occurs and it does not impact the play, it should not be called. How many times does a DL get held on the opposite side of the play and a hold is called. Refs are poorly trained and it is a part time job for most of the officials. If the SEC cold get moved out of Birmingham we and the rest of the SEC could get more favorable calls when playing Bama.

Obviously fake injuries should be penalized. The ole miss player falling down when no one touched him is just an obvious attempt to disrupt rhythm of game.
However, the nature of football is such that you have to give benefit of doubt to injured player.

I saw several. I lost count how many times the UT "defenders" twisted legs, knees & ankles, after the play was over. I saw one play where the DL was pushing the OL apart as one of his legs was in the pile and the UT player pushed his other leg the opposite way. Subtle, but I saw it.

I saw a penalty, I forget which game, in which a player got an unsportsmanlike for end zone taunting. The shite these players say to each other after nearly EVERY SINGLE play is nauseating. If they have enough breath to talk trash, then they aren't playing hard enough. It is hard to be a fan of any team with nothing but trash talkers.

The worst about the Ole miss ones were THEY had the ball!! I thought those were incredulous.

Reminds me of an old commercial, the old guy says, "I like doing this because I'm sticking it to the man" and the 2 interns said, "but sir, you are the man".

The shot on an int where he was hurt was to the head. QB's head area is off limits and the defender was head hunting. Yes it's football, with rules to protect the QBs. There was no effort made to not go for the head shot. It's a vol technique and has to be a taught skill because it happens too often.

I agree, if a player is down on a play and doesn't get up i have to assume he is injured. If he gets up, looks at sideline and goes down like he was struck by lightening, i assume it's fake. Keep that last guy out awhile and give offense 15 yards and a 1st down.

If a player goes down, he should sit for a certain number of plays. For his own safety. Maybe graduated ... like 2 plays for the first time, 4 plays for the second, etc.

I think the $EC went about the solution in the wrong way, but that is probably because their #1 focus is money. (so they fine the coaches)

If you really watched that game and did not see any dirty play by UT, you are either.....
A. An official (never see anything and defend the brotherhood)
B. Ray Charles ( never see anything...period) or
C. A Vol fan. (Never see anything bad the Vols do).

Here are a few examples from last night's game.
Twisting ankles and knees after the whistle had blown.
Striking the QB in the head with both hands.
Striking the QB in the face from a player ON THE SIDELINE, not even in the game.
Twisting the QB to the ground by the face mask AFTER the whistle had blown.....
Taking a free shot on the QB AFTER the play was already blown dead for a false start...

Tackling at the knees while a second tackler goes high after the WR/RB/QB is already engaged with the other tackler at his knees.

Seeing any pattern here? Notice how many of these plays involved the QB.

Go back and see how many starting QB's have finished their games against the Vols this year. And starting RB's. You might be shocked.

Ever heard of the Phil Fulmer bounty??

I guess all those other teams had bad O lines also.

I hope we can not be poor losers. There were plenty of missed called on both teams. I could show you multiply missed holding calls on us last night that were not called and most likely would have eliminated our last TD. It is never going to be perfect especially on the road, but TN beat us, not the officials. Let's show some class in a tough loss as well as a win. GBB

I think we both know if a player is actually hurt he is out for more than 2 plays, they hit the tent, get retaped or whatever, it's more than 2 plays, unless a 3 min commercial needs to run.

I would be in favor of a compromise, let an offense go HUNU as fast as they can, for say 5 plays, then hold the snap allowing the D an opportunity to sub. I think that is a fair compromise, and will allow the D to sub for an exhausted player.

This post has nothing to do with us losing the game. Nothing.
And please stop trying to compare a missed holding call to an illegal shot to the head of a QB.

I have never seen a holding penalty that caused a concussion or knocked a player out of the game with an injury.

Stop gaslighting.

A lot of times yes, but Not necessarily. Consider cramps. the trainers work on the calf on the field, help the player off and he is ready next play. But tape, tent, etc is probably more common.

Would need an exception for 2 min drill. How long do the refs hold the offense?

Good discussion.

If a player is cramped he isn't ready in a couple minutes, not ready enough to go 100% anyway.

As for holding the snap, 40 sec on play clock, let offense go at 15 sec left every 5th play, i think that would be fair to everyone, if offense wants to go at 15 sec for 4 plays have at it. Just a thought that might curtail some of the fake injuries.

This. Thats why im so surprised the sec came out so strong. How are they going to judge which injuries are fake? Cramping is especially problematic.

In the era finally focusing on player safety, i just don't see the pr value in this approach. Of course they just allowed a defensive lineman on the sidelines to two hand blast our qb in the face out of bounds, so maybe they arent that sincere about player safety.

It's hard to believe they ignored that. Wonder what their reaction will be when the 8 milion dollar man starts getting the. Will the start their little chant when he is laying on the ground?
