I agree with you, but still maintain that shots fall more frequently when they are the product of crisp ball and player movement. Skip passes, touch passes, and just extra passes in general were something we saw a lot of early. As these have decreased, so has our shooting %. Remember: an open shot is not necessarily a quality shot. It depends who is taking it, and at what point in the shot clock. Just ask Gonzaga, who had many wide open shots in the second half against us, but they did NOT come from within the flow of the offense — which is why they missed almost all of them.

We are dribbling the ball up the court to much in them last few games. We aren’t getting much out of our early offense. We need to pass tee ball up the court and get up early shots!

If I’m Pope I’m asking every shooter to focus on taking floaters off the drive until teams stop overplaying our shooters on ball screens. Brea and Robinson are both capable but it needs to be a point of emphasis. Drive it to 10 feet and in, floater. If there is help, immediate kick outs. Also, post guys need to be accountable for not looking to kick it out and so does Oweh. Oweh has been driving with blinders on for awhile now and I know he is capable of better playmaking. That’s what I’m hoping for.

Thankfully, I’m not Pope and I’m certain his adjustments will be even better and more attuned to the strengths of his personnel.

Nah, sometimes good teams play bad games. Just a bad game, hopefully our worst this year is outta the way.

The offense is not the same as it was before the Duke game. More passing, more threes, more scoring, harder to defend.

Since Duke, the players cu I don't think Pope is promoting it, but we're playing more 1 on 1 plays, less passing trying to find the best shot. Making decisions to do it on their own without team involvment. The last game especially, seemed to have hero ball in effect. It was really evident the last 10 min of the 1st half.

If these guys don't get back to sharing the ball, its going to be a long season.

We're never going to be a great man defensive team. We have less than a handful of athletes.

The style/type of basketball this team plays lends itself to games like this. When shots are going in we can play with anyone, when shots don't go in anyone can beat us or keep it close. If fans were paying attention when this team was assembled we should have figured that out. In the time and situation Pope had to work with he did a masterful job on the roster. He found players who play like he coaches. I like this team and took in hard when they lost the way they did. Unfortunately I am more invested in this team than I have been in the last few years(last season was a fun team but they just folded in post season play.

The SEC will be a torture chamber for just about everybody. Five losses in conference will probably be good enough to win it.

Good Post. I like the sum of the parts on this team. We do have elite shooters and when they are on we will beat anyone. However, when teams push us into poor shots from 3 or just play really intense defense on the 3 point shots we have to found another way to score. I'm concerned if we don't make some adjustment like that we are going to struggle.

I few people have suggested moving Carr to the 5. I think we might see that against UF. Their bigs are a lot like Carr. To me he is better than them.

Following UK's crushing loss to OSU in NYC news came out that both Chandler and Carr got engaged on the trip.

This explains a lot about our performance and lackadaisical play. Given the holiday break, semester ending finals, and the marriage purposals our guys simply weren't focused on the task at hand.

Hopefully, this game is an anomaly overall and the aforementioned reasons were a major reason for laying an egg

So with Cal it was get the best athlete's in high school and let them (dribble drive) to the basket to score using their overwhelming athleticism to score the basket. That didn't work out very good let's let the not overwhelming athletic players who can shoot pass dribble and chew gum at the same time try their hand at it for a whole season first. Not to mention JJ, Lewis, Wilson and Moreno are some really good players coming in. Oweh, Garrison, Chandler, Noah and Perry is a great foundation for next year and no telling who we get in the portal we will have at least 4 spots open and I'm sure we get one or two top flight 4th year portal players. A junior out in college basketball is tearing it up right now for a mediocre team already eyeing UK right now as his destination next year.
