Everybody gets a truck...

Going to be tough to compete with some schools going forward. This is Utah.

Didn’t think this gifting stuff was the NIL model.

I bet 99% of all college presidents and ADs would love to see big caps and clear directives as to what is permitted.

In a drastic turn couldn’t the colleges get together and charter a new organization with strict rules governing nil etc?

Voluntary to join and negotiate with tv. If you voluntarily join you agree to the charter.

If you like the Wild West of nil don’t join. At that I bet 90% of schools would join a new ncaa group.

We'll see about collectives next year now with the somewhat recent tax guidance out that these contributions are not tax deductible.

Also hope all these players wanted this vehicle because they likely just received a nice tax bill (maybe more than one) courtesy of this PR stunt.

Most states have laws that prohibit schools from placing strict limits on NIL.

All vehicles are leased

They're still responsible for the taxes.

This is insane though nonetheless. Meanwhile there are probably university students barely making their payments, working two jobs to stay in school. Or other university employees making next to nothing trying to survive.

I'm all for NIL, but dang. This is getting ridiculous.

While it may seem ridiculous to you and many others, it’s not.
It’s the American way!

Do we put limits on how much money/compensation you can make? You are allowed to seek out a new job anytime you like. Same with D1 kids.

Also please remember the shelf life for this is VERY small. After 4 or 5 years, they are done playing their sport and need to get on with regular jobs and life.

The problem lies in that you know all 85 of the scholarship players aren't performing at the same level. Also, the walk ons who are maybe working just as hard got ZILCH in this.

First thing I thought about were the walk ons.

This is interesting. I work at Illinois State and Kyle Brennan was fired as the AD here a few months back for some shady things and then hired as the CEO the Utah collective. I had a feeling he would kill it....he's got the used car salesman vibe (no pun intended).

Looks like all of the trucks will be wrapped to advertise an app, so they are basically providing the value of a leased vehicle to the players in exchange for them advertising an app when they drive around in their trucks.
