ESPN's perfect college team has Pitino as HC, Calipari as an assistant

Summertime click bait, and nothing more. Cal and Rick are both great coaches - both in the HoF, so you shouldn't even have to say that, but in these rival infested waters it must be said. So you can make an argument for either to be head coach. But citing Pitino's ability to "manage egos and personalities" when that's what Cal does better than anyone? That's like picking Pat Riley as head coach and Phil Jackson to be his assistant, and basing it on Riley's abilities with the triangle offense. This is just intended to irritate the easily irritated - and easily mobilized - BBN.

I'd rather have Izzo as head coach. Hell of a coach, runs a clean ship, and him and Cal actually have a good relationship where they praise each other instead making passive aggressive slants toward one another.

Cal as head assistant and chief recruiter.

Serious question: what does Pitino do that is superior to Cal?
Oh several things. Like lying, messing around with nasty whores, paying for abortions. Pitino is much better than Cal when it comes to being dominated by your big in state rival.. Considering that Pitinos' record against Calipari over the last 8 years is 1 win & 9 losses. And some clown picks Pitino as the head coach & Calipari as the assistant..... Some little jealous nobody with an ax to grind.

Wait... For real?

^^^ No timeouts needed in a game when you have those three GOATs on the sidelines.

Even though those aren't especially desirable qualities, I still think Cal could outperform Pitino at those if he wanted to.

Lol tell me again that were conspiracy theorists when we say ESPN has an axe to grind with Kentucky.

Why the hell would ESPN even include UofL/Pitino in anything with the mess going on?

Pitino is 2-2 vs Calipari in the tournament, but whoever was coaching UK won each time.
Cal was 1-1 versus Rick's greatest team, and he was stuck with UMass. That is impossible to explain other than Cal outcoached him.

Same is true recently when BOTH are coaching at premiere programs. Cal dominates Rick.

Why would you want Pitino as a head coach when he fails to monitor his assistants, lands you in the middle of a whore scandal, and gets his title vacated?

I took it to mean that they wanted Cal to keep watch on Rick, to make sure he didn't break any more rules. :sunglasses:

I too would choose Rick over Cal in a one game situation like God's team versus Satan's. Cal has lost too many big games to allow him to coach God's team in a winner takes earth scenario.
Rick has lost a few big games too but his ability to make a good team out of whatever the heck you give him pushes him above Cal as a coach for Gods team.
I have a ton of respect for Ricky P's coaching ability with garbage players dressed in red. That's tough to pull off. Ask Tom Crean....
Heck only winning games with garbage players dressed in orange is tougher....

Let me see if I understand this. You would take Pitino over Calipari. This despite the fact that Pitino has been at UL 16 years & has been to a grand total of 1 Final 4. Cal has been to 5 Final 4;s in the last 10 years. Pitino is 1& 9 against Calipari over the last 8 years. Pitino has over seen the most embarrassing scandal in the history of college athletics. And you would take him over Cal. O.K., just wanted to make sure I understood you.

The head coach is the face of your program. Do you want your face covered in herpes by having Pitino as the coach? Cal is probably the best face of a program out there right now.

He doesn't sleep with ho's on restaurant tables, pay for abortions, or have assistants behind his back hiring prostitutes for players and also for recruits that are minors. He doesn't have players getting into multiple legal issues. He doesn't use players in the hopes that they come back multiple years to benefit him. He doesn't allow his players to go to fake classes and get the use of free cars.

I probably would take Izzo as an assistant to Cal because of his in game coaching and maybe Sean Miller as another assistant due to him being use to dealing with one and done players. Maybe have Gregg Marshall as a 3rd assistant if he leaves his wife behind.
