The whole article is a joke, but check out this snippet.

"A 12th consecutive Big 12 title would stamp Kansas’ standing as the most dominant team in college basketball and solidify Self’s position as one of the three best coaches, along with Krzyzewski and Calipari, in the game today"

And this one:

"You can point to magnificent postseason runs, outstanding winning streaks and rallies toward national titles. And they still won’t top the breadth of what Kansas has accomplished."

So, now it's not only KU fans saying conference titles are more important, it's professional sports journalists. Unreal.

Oh, Myron. It speaks volumes about the rest of the Big 12, though Vitale and the usual suspects with be power-slurping that overrated league yet again this coming season.

I think Cal accomplishment of 4 Final Four's in Five years is fantastic. Very impressive! Can one Kentucky fan say one nice thing about 12th straight Conference Titles and 27 straight years of making the NCAA?

It is impressive KU fan, I think everyone here will admit that. What gets us is you guys tout it like it's 12 National Championships, which is simply not the case. The goal is the last game in April, not the first week of March

I agree 100% Do I think it is impressive in this age of OAD? - YES. Would I trade them for National Championships? - In a heartbeat.

Congrats on padding wins in a ridiculously shitty conference, with literally zero NCAA success outside of your team.

If Kentucky had only three national titles but had 12 straight conference titles and 27 straight years of making the NCAA-T Im still pretty sure we wouldn't say anything nice about it.

Doesn't it really speak more to the quality of competition in the Big 12 than anything else?

Hard to believe KU fans have actually convinced a pro to make the claim being the most impressive thing. What bs. Don't get me wrong. If other teams in the conference would do something in the tourney besides KU, it might be a more impressive streak.

Great accomplishment.... to brag about to Big 12 conference fans. But keep that weak sh*t out of the national scene.

But since KU fans and now their media Lackeys want to chirp about it,.... UK was undefeated in the big 12 by an average of 27+ ppg... Kansas, Texas, and WVU. Not to mention 3 opponents, 2 being KU in 2012 by an average in the double digits as well. So shouldn't the headline be, "KU gives two of its big 12 titles to UK for superior performance" ???

I think it's a really impressive streak, and lets be honest if UK had 11 straight SEC regular season championships wed be hyping them up as well. Its a solid accomploshment, you cant take it away from KU. With that said, I don't know how it makes them the most dominating team? That's kind of silly rationalizing to me. It means they're the dominating team in the Big 12, but not sure how that makes them the top team in all of hoops.

The Big 12 is such a weird conference. They start out with a lot of teams ranked high and the media slurps it up for awhile. Then by seasons end most have fallen and are getting ready for a first weekend elimination.

Why should we have to? We're on a UK board. Go look how UK fans are treated on your scumhole of a board.

I think you mean 'weak-sh*t, don't you?

Poor Medcalf...

Dude seems like a nice guy. Though, his writing and intelligence level have always left much to be desired.

What Kansas has done is very impressive. But, these were all sentiments that were expressed months ago, when it actually happened.

My guess, he was hitting a deadline empty handed, and this is what he crapped out, a thousand words about old news that doesn't even attempt to put a fresh take or perspective on the subject.

I knew you couldn't... I interact with UK on Kansas boards. I must tell you that they do not get bad treatment. How many UK posters have been banned on Kansas sites? Has anyone here?

I can't remember the exact statistics, but I know that Kansas is the only team during the streak to make the Final Four (and I think they only made it twice or maybe three times). And I think there was only one or two other teams to even make it past the Sweet 16 during the streak. In other words, while still an unquestionably impressive accomplishment, it is not THAT historic considering the relative weakness of the Big 12 (and, yes, I realize the SEC is not great, but we have had other great teams in that stretch, namely Florida).

KU won the B-12 (minus any teams other conferences wanted) last year despite losing to a West Virginia team that Kentucky beat by 40, losing to Kentucky by 32 and then getting handled easily by Little Brother Wichita State in the NCAA tournament. That's some accomplishment.

If Kansas had to play in a serious conference, say the Missouri Valley, it might be a more meaningful achievement.

One of the best posts I've ever seen on RR.

I had to look the guy who wrote the article up on the internet. The guy is 31 and fairly clueless about college bball from what I can discern.

This is a straight up lie. The KU scout board has the biggest hard on for UK, Cal and UK fans. That's all they get is bad treatment. Matter of fact, it's so bad that if there's not anything to trash UK, Cal or UK fans about, they simply just make stuff up or start talking Civil War smack (stupidest shit ever).

And don't give me this crap about UK fans not being banned over there because there's a perfectly good explanation for that. No one gets banned on that board. It's such a shithole that no one cares about, and there's zero moderation.

We didn't tout it, the national media did (see linked article above). It's okay for a school to get national recognition about their accomplishments. It doesn't diminish Kentucky's accomplishments.

Do you need a hug?

Perfect and accurate reply.

It is impressive but I have a hard time not seeing it as a fault of competition in the big12.

12 years and no other team could outright win the conference?

The ku teams were good, but not unbeatable. Take ku out of the big12 (I know the same can be said of uk) and the conference is pretty weak.

What teams from the big 12 have made deep runs in the past 12 years.

Congratulations on your Big 12 2016 conference title...KU wins by default because there is no one else. Kansas State, Texas? You don't even have Missouri anymore. Can everyone see why ESPN's budget got cut by so much? This article is just one small example. They employ mostly clowns and yes men.

I think Oklahoma, Iowa State, and West Virginia will compete for the Big 12 conference title this year. Don't know what Shaka can do at Texas, but Texas has some returning talent.

Yay for KU!

The best part of "One Shining Moment" is always the highlight of Kansas whooping up on Texas Tech (often with an ineligible player).

So, I just checked this out. During the last 11 NCAA tournaments -- the period of Kansas' hugely impressive streak -- do you know how many Big-12 teams other than Kansas (twice) made the Final Four?

If you said ZERO, you know your Big-12 basketball.

By the way, that streak of conference championships? FIVE of the 11 were ties with at least one other team. But I guess that counts.

Big 12 is a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And KU is a joke for touting those Big 12 titles & then flaming out of the NCAA tournament when they play real basketball teams like N. Iowa & Wichita St. :pimp:

Would you include Robert Morris in that list too?

I consider the article very useful and insightful. I learned one very valuable thing.

Another idiot sports author to ignore. I'd never have learned this without the article. Gotta appreciate value when you can find it.
