He announces as if he's doing a radio broadcast instead of TV. Radio announcers will sometimes go nuts like that because they realize the listener can't see what is happening and they're trying to show the excitement of the play. That's what it sounded like to me. I agree that it was a little overboard, at least for TV.

I'm sorry but dayum, that guy was completely overboard. My wife commented that he was trying to be the next Vitale.

Didn't hear him tonight but he is one of my favorite announcers. Easy to listen to.
