ESPN Woes

ESPN used to be creative. They used to have Howard Cosell (I liked him. He was so fake but he knew it and everyone knew it but he did his homework.) So many others too. Pukey V to this day is still trying to be what Howard was... ESPN had some serious characters that played their parts. They need to do a star search to get some talent or they will be washed up.

As for me; I have Bill...

Too many sports creating their own networks because internet will allow you to choose what programming you want without having to go a package route. Golf Digest had a great article on the way programming is heading. Cost too much for networks to compete. That's why golf is now on multiple networks(Fox,TNT,CBS,NBC/golf channel) during the season. And yes 24hrs per day of football is a bit much
Just found the article. ESPN must trim100 million from 2016 budget and 250 million from 2017. NBC/golf channel out bid ESPN by 25 million for the British Open starting 2017

They have two problems.
1) With their contracts with multiple conferences guaranteeing coverage for every game they have diluted their product. When there was one SEC game on Wednesday and 2 on Saturday we would watch all of them whether UK was playing or not. Limited supply will create more demand than unlimited.
2) The internet is a much more efficient way to get scores and highlights. When you want, what you want and how much you want.

I actually enjoy the new SVP SportsCenter. Being on the west coast, I will watch that when I go to bed sometimes. I watch ESPN for basketball and football and enjoy shows like E:60 and 30 for 30. That's about it for me.
This. The late night west coast sports centers are very good and entertaining.

Want to know what is wrong with ESPN, Jay Williams and Seth Greenburg on pre game and half time are HORRIBLE. They act like they are half drunk in a bar. ESPN has made it about the personalities instead of the sporting even. I hate ESPN. Not talking about the UNC scandal helps with that hate.

I think ESPN made the same mistake Nascar and country music has made. They forgot what brought them the polarity and hung their fans out to dry. Trying to be all inclusive. Both Nascar and country music catered to non-fans to grow but forgot about the fans that got them there. They are paying the price

When they started with their agendas, their demands, etc., they pretty much lost me. When they chose to totally ignore the North Carolina situation, That was it for me. I watch the UK games with the sound down listening to the UK radio network.
