That’s their prediction
I would honestly take that record, if we could win one of the UT matchups that would give us 12-6 and a lot of Q1 wins.

That would give us 11 losses (unless we won the SECT or NCAAT).

Which means we'd go 22-9 in the regular season. And something like 26-11 overall. Most in this thread are saying that would be OK. But if it happens, the majority of the board will have a melt down.
With as tough as the SEC is I would take absolutely take 22-9 going into March. We would still get a pretty high seed with a ton of Q1-2 wins with that.

Hope so but I think 13/14 wins is extremely unlikely here.

Heck the team that ends up winning this conference might not even get to that.

If this conference is as good as it has been so far, we are looking at a TON of records hovering around .500 in conference.
I think if the refs in SEC were fair and consistent AND they played their best every night they might do it but I don’t think that’ll happen.

Kentucky will finish better than 7 conference losses this season.

I'll bank that one.

I just don't see two losses to Tennessee. And maybe Auburn will beat us in in Rupp, but, if that happens, we're not losing somewhere to offset that. As usual, I have my suspicions about UT and Barnes. It's Alabama and Auburn for my money. UK is right there. We can beat the Vols and Barnes. We're not going to get swept.

I expect Auburn to win the regular season in the conference. After that, Kentucky is right there. I thought preseason we'd be a national #3 seed. but we are better than that.

But as things are, I'd say even seven conference losses this year absolutely nails a #3 seed, like I thought before the year. Having seen our team and CMP at the helm, I'm brimming with confidence we can do even better than I had originally and most optimistically thought!

What a rejuvenating run this season has been !

Go Big Blue !

11-7 is possible and wouldn’t be shocking
I would guess 12-6 with some hope for 13-5. Anything better than that would be highly impressive.
Then again, 10-8 could happen.

I'd be ok with 11-7, happy with 12-6, thrilled with 13-5, 10-8 would be like kissing your sister, disappointed with 9-9, upset with 8-10.

That’s their prediction
That looks like ESPN’s prediction of whether or not we are favored to win those individual games. That’s not the same thing as ESPN’s prediction of our record.

To get to a predicted record, you have to sum the win probabilities across games. You can’t simply count the number of games where we are the favorite.

Let’s say a team is considered to have a 60% chance of winning each of their 10 games. That team is the favorite in all 10 games. But they have only a 0.6% chance of going undefeated. Their predicted record would actually be 6-4.

If ESPN has us as the favorite in 11 games, then our predicted record should likely have less than 11 wins.

They showed our record as 11-7 with a 4 or 5 seed in the tourney

We don’t lose to TN twice. They are overrated and have not played a team that is currently ranked.
TN is a little above average team but what makes them difficult to play is their 94 foot man defense. If officials call it loose, they are a monster to beat. If the game is called tight, they are beatable. All depends on officials. We do not want Adams as an official. He just seems to have a negative attitude toward us. Maybe it was Cal that he did not like. I hope that was the reason.

Adams seemed to have it in for us before Cal.

Auburn for sure and maybe UT are the ones who could be vying for 13/14 wins in conference. Auburn, based on non-con, seems to be a cut above everyone. They are the most likely to get 13 or more wins.

To your point, there will be a bunch of teams around that .500 mark for much of the year. Don't be surprised if a quality team starts 1-4 or something like that. There are landmines everywhere in conference. Those weeknight games in the depths of a dark SEC West gym during a shirt night are a true terror.

I think Auburn and UT will have a bit of separation.

And there will be a many teams with 9 wins +/- 1 win. UK will be in that mix. Our average record is 10-8, I'd guess. We get to 12 with some luck or an appreciable jump in our strength and can end with just 8 wins with some bad luck.

Because there are so many quad 1 opportunities, at 10-8 we can still end up with something like 8 quad 1 wins at the end of the regular season. A good showing the the SEC tournament could get that total to in the 10 win range. Every team with 10 quad 1 wins or better last season ended up with at least a 3 seed. Even at 10-8 in the conference, we can earn a high seed.

I think Arkansas beats TN today. Cal was able to win in Knoxville oddly enough.
