Espn has kentucky in the top 25 now

Lol it’s hilarious we could sign a 25 year old Lebron James and we’d be seeing “Kentucky close to making pre-season top 25 now”. It’s ridiculous to think this team is anything other than top 10-15 pre season. I don’t know how anything shakes out but on paper there are not even close to 25 teams better. It doesn’t matter what we do the narrative is to keep us down regardless of anything and at this point it’s just comical.

On paper I’d agree, but we have nothing to base a true opinion on. We will see, I think we won’t know until around January what kinda team we have for real.

I just don’t think anyone else really does either aside from a few teams then. We’ve got all defensive specialist, guards that’s have led teams to top seeds, highest 3 point % wings, 5 star versatile bigs, potential star in Jaxson, all conference leaders, one of the top staffs in the country and, according to his peers, a very difficult system to defend against. If we’re a questionable team I’d like to see the rosters that are not.

It’s weird to me that Calipari teams were catapulted into the top 3 yearly with nothing but 18 year olds that no one had ever seen but this team could add Lebron James and we’d still be called a fringe top 25 team. And they always gave the Calipari teams such high praise even after we all realized no longer were those freshman reliable

I like the spot. Calipari was going from top 5 to 23. This year they will gov from 23 to top 5.

The top 25 is very SEC heavy, 9 teams:

2 - Bama

11 - Auburn
12 - A&M
13 - Tennessee
14 - Arkansas

20 - Ole Miss
21 - Florida
22 - Texas
23 - Kentucky

Gary Parrish at CBS has 7 SEC schools ranked, not including OM or UK:

2 - Bama
10 - Auburn
11 - A&M
13 - Arkansas
14 - Tennessee
20 - Texas
22 - Florida

What many discount is that quite often the coach's style doesn't factor a lot into what a team looks like on paper, but in CMP's case it does. It's going to take most of us by complete surprise (though we've discussed it to no end) just how different UK looks under CMP, how much he gets out of his players.

Sh*t if they can beat Duke they immediately land in the top 10 after week 1 so it's all right in front of them.
With CMP I expect we'll definitely try and make the most of every opportunity. With Cal I honestly never knew if the next game he was going to let the team do what it does best, or if he was going to talk to Ellen about "little Joey got his feelings hurt on the bench, we need to sit Reed and Rob".

All hype

This team will open some eyes nationally soon enough. I don’t agree that Kriisa is the starting PG, Butler has that spot, IMO.
When things shake out it will be:
Butler
Oweh
Robinson
Carr
Garrison
I like that lineup, bring in Kerr and Brea with Robinson ,Carr, Garrison when you want 4 shooters. Amari Williams and Almonor can also spell Carr and Williams and provide defense and shooting. I hope our Kentucky boys are good enough to see a little clock because they can really shoot it.

Who would’ve ever thought 10 years ago the SEC would become so good, just crazy

The other 7 teams are intriguing too with all the transfers coming in. Georgia with Mike White is coming off an NIT final 4. LSU is similar, bringing in Carter from K St. Mississippi St has Hubbard back and brought in Clary and Kugel. Missouri is getting Perkins from Iowa and Mitchell from Duke. Oklahoma has a few transfers, but may be the worst of the league. Vandy is like us with a new coach and 10 incoming transfers. South Carolina was a 6 seed and Paris seems to have gotten okay replacements.

Maybe they aren't tournament teams, but there isn't a bad team in the bunch, at least on paper.

Just more proof these polls are useless. UK is solidly well within the best 25 teams in the country with this lineup and coaching and renewed energy.

I know this will hurt RuRi's feelings, but Calipari more and more every year became protective of his precious favorites' mock draft status. That clown played games with the fans, and was seemingly an expert at buying time until the draft. "come and watch Shaedon in warmup" or kids being out MONTHS with boo-boo's. He literally got fired from the NBA and dedicated his time proving to everyone that he could be a GM and do the whole "load management" thing at the expense of UK's basketball program and legacy. I do agree that at some point he wasn't getting the truly elite players that he initially did, but he stopped doing what was best for UK long before that dropoff.

We are absolutely loaded; have shooters galore, have experience galore, have guards galore have a real coach.
Anything less from the AP other than top 10 will be outlandish.
Plus, Pope still has one more scholly to delve out.
Dont be ignorant AP like ESPN and get caught looking silly after we blast Duke in November.
