ESPN - Biancardi: Duke has the #1 class.

Yet another example of ESPN turning fans into money. DON'T FALL FOR IT!

Here's the recipe. Say anything that doesn't indicate UK (or insert most any other high profile fan base) is the supreme answer to any thing basketball related. Result, fan base goes ballistic and generates hits and discussion traffic. Hits = Advertising revenue. Rinse, repeat. Over and over and over.

I'm guessing they aren't counting Murray in order to maintain the illusion of respectability. In the end, their ranking of an incoming class is totally and completely irrelevant - except that we'll turn it into their money during the basketball off-season.

Don't be gullible >>> They'll go somewhere else for hits.

just wondering why any of us would get up in arms about it? It's ESPN for heaven's sake - not exactly MENSA

With titles being hard to come by our fans take alot of solace in having the top recruiting class. Its kind of like a mini-title to them.

Who is up in arms about it? I always get a kick out of the message board police.

How dare UK fans want to be the best in everything. Some fans take a lot of solace in trying to poo poo in every post. They're kind of like a mental-mini-fan to the rest of UK fans.

Nice shtick.

By all means lets just battle it out over who has the top ranked recruiting class. Lets just get up in arms over it.

You guys will get angry if we arent awarded the top recruiting class by ESPN, but get angry at other fans who get angry when Cal blows another chance at a title? I don't get it.

Biancardi and K are friends. Not to mention K gives Biancardi extra access to team USA. Its nice when you can turn the duke good ole boy network into a national one through ESPN and team USA

Do they bring up the recruiting title(s) in most of their post in completely irrelevant threads (ie this one)? We get it, you're stuck on repeat. Some fans just like to complain. Some people are the same way and I'm sure they're that way in every aspect of life. I don't mind you like others, I realize you probably get it honest.

Point is we need to get concerned with winning titles. Thats what this is about. And sure you can say they same ole line "UK has been around for 100 years and only won 8 titles. Titles are not easy to come by etc blah blah". How many times in that 100 years did UK have the insane talent that they have had these past 6 years? How many #1 overall ranked recruiting classes have they had in that time?

We're all going to look back one day on this "golden era" and say "why didn't we win more titles"? Yes UK basektball has been around forever and only one 8 titles. Yes they are hard to win. But theyve never had the talent they theyve had this past 6 years.

We are sitting on an opportunity that will NEVER come around again. Cal gets essentially any recruit he wants. We have the most popular rapper in entertainment performing at our Midnight Madness. We have NBA guys littered everywhere and they constantly promote our program. We have our own combine. We have state of the art practice facilities. I could go on and on and on. We have it ALL RIGHT NOW. This is the time to leave everyone in the dust and we aren't doing it. I feel like we are going to look back at this era and say "such wasted opportunities" in regard to winning titles. Time to bring home the bacon.

We all know that had Murray signed with Duke he likely would have been ESPN's #1 ranked recruit and there would already be a 30 for 30 about his play in the FIBA games.

Hey Cut-Nurts, do you look back on the 1966, 1975, 1997 title games and say "Wasted opportunities?" Same results as 2014 and to an extent, 2015. Did Rupp, Joe B. And Pitino "blow it" by losing the title games? You keep pointing out that we have superior talent therefore we should be winning it all every year. Had you actually been a competitor any part of your life instead of an armchair genius, you would understand that it's extremely difficult to win it all. You actually think that Cal just rolls the ball out and once the ball is tipped, the other team is going to surrender. Doesn't work that way db. And why have you been conspicuously silent over Cal's HOF induction? It's eating you up isn't it? Run along and leave the basketball discussion to those of us who understand the nuances of the game. You clearly don't have a clue.

I've said it about 5 times now, but ESPN wants the casual fan to believe that Duke has surpassed UK in recruiting. They are not even our equal, but they are the closest thing to it. If you follow recruiting you know that UK has the number 1 class, hands down. Fact is, no fan base follows recruiting as close as UK fans do, so we will hear all year about Duke's "2nd number one class in a row" and people will believe it. The UNC fans sitting behind me at the alumni game had never heard of Jamal Murray, but they could tell me all about Luke Maye. Other team's fanbases aren't like us, they can name a couple marquee players from their class, but they have no idea about the rest of the recruiting landscape.

I know Duke has 2 titles in Cal's UK tenure and so does Uconn. I know that UK was the far superior team to everyone in 2010 and were sent packing by West Virginia. I know we were arguable the greatest defensive team in history (statsically speaking) and we were sent packing last season. All i know is that our lone title with all of this talent over the last 6 years required a transcendent player in AD to win, and we still almost blew it. Yes i know Cal can get players, but unless AD walks through that door again hes not going to win it.

You shouldn't be so caught up with others. I'd hate to be your neighbors. How about just enjoy the ride and quit poo pooing on others excitement with your piss poor outlook.? Just a thought.

This thread is about ESPN's recruiting ranking for this years class and yet again, here we our with your copy/pasted material.

Nice edit and leaving Rupp out of this version.

Also, Calipari recruited Davis as he will others. It's pretty amazing, you have such an agenda to convince everyone that Calipari is not on a run that deserves praise. Could it be better, yes, but so could every coaches' run ever. The fact you continue to take this summer to remind everyone every chance you get touches on your outlook than Calipari's potential. Too bad you weren't as busy this summer as you claimed to be last summer.

It's all good though. We know it's just one "man's" opinion and not reality nor fact. Keep on saying the same stuff over and over, and I'm sure you'll continue to expose trolls with who "likes" your posts.

That is not what everyone was saying then. They said you cannot win a title with a freshmen dominated starting five. We lost, SI and Espn sighed in relief and the storyline changed.

Its telling cutnets when the only one who liked your post is a trolling bandwagon duke fan.

Who got us those players? Who took us from the dumps to a national title and having a realistic shot at the title every year? What is your solotion cut nets? Your like the ones who cry about wanting four year players, they have no idea how to do that and still contend every year, they just want to whine.

I realize the Cal hater has hijacked yet another thread, but I'm still waiting on @BlueBlood66 to answer my question on which recruiting class he feels is better. He's here constantly, but avoiding the question for some reason.

To be fair, complaining about how ESPN is ranking this years class is pretty much copy/paste material as it is...

As much as you read this board, you should get the context of my post.

Since you're here (again), do you agree, that Duke has the #1 class?

Whoa, calm down cowgirl. I didn't see your post from earlier as the thread was on the second page pretty fast. I would say UK's class is probably better.

Do you think ESPN has some bias for Duke and against UK. If so, why? How would that benefit ESPN?

Put the uneducated on ignore guys. If everyone does it he is just talking to himself and the voices in his head.

Honest question: why does this matter so much?

Honestly it really doesn't. It just rubs people wrong because ranking duke 1 makes no sense based off any legitimate criteria. Obviously who is 1 makes no difference in how things will turn out, but ESPN seems to have blinders on by refusing to change the ranking.

I've done that...I assume cutfarts has issued a post that reads something like, recruiting the number one class does not mean anything, because Cal...

So you don't agree with the fellow Duke fan on if ESPN is right about this years class.

And don't confuse debating about something in the offseason as mattering so much. You come here to talk basketball right?

Blueblood66 agree's ESPN got it wrong. I'm curious if you or TUL will go on record (preseason) on which is better. It's all for fun right?

it mattered to duke when they made posters about their number one class when they got thorton a few months ago.

It is crazy how this board becomes proving ground for the fans that just won the latest championship. It's like they want to get all the recognition they can from the kings before the new season starts.

I honestly don't care. You guys can have the #1 class. While these rankings help fill the void during the offseason, they're honestly meaningless if the kids don't produce. Not to mention, they are not always accurate. For instance, Austin Rivers was #1 when he came out of high school, ahead of Anthony Davis who was #2.

Anyway. It's the off-season, not a whole lot of topics to choose from.

I'm sorry to those of you who intentionally clicked on this thread title even when you already knew you weren't going to like it's content. Like I said, the rest of us are truly sorry you had to sift through another ESPN preseason ranking thread.

My advice would be just to not click on it next time.
